I am so sorry to hear about your loss!!!! :( My eyes are tearing up reading this thread! I can't imagine what you've been through these past few weeks!!! Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this tough time!!!!! ((((( sending hugs to you and your family and Sammy)))))).

Thanks again to all the wonderful kind messages.

I am just in shock today.

I know Jake is with my Mam in heaven minding her. My Mam always thought that two boxers was way too much hard work on me.. before she died I told her no Mam its great, they keep each other company, therefore its less work really! Jake always wanted hugs and kisses off Mam when she used to have to lie on the sofa as she was so sick. He always wanted up beside her. So I have to take comfort in the fact maybe he wanted to mind her?

Today I am extra sad. Just playing with sammy now. Ah the poor pet, he keeps walking in and out of rooms looking for Jakey :(

I know when we had Tuppence our Collie pts last year Lola was lost and stopped eating, we even took her to the vets as we thought she might be ill, that's one of the reasons we got Zebedee.
Time is a great healer so the old cliche goes but it's true Brenda.
We knew it was time for Tuppence to go. It is harder for you as Jake was so young so you must be feeling not just upset but cross, in shock & robbed too :(
Sammy will be feeling a little lost so spending more time with him will help you both no end.
More ((hugs)) today for you, I know it's not much but want you to know that people really care.

Usually our boys sleep in the kitchen but since Jake went to Vet Sammy had to sleep in our bedroom as he was crying and crying.. not your usual crying very painful crying or something.. I dont really want him to get in a habit of sleeping in my room so wondering how will I settle him in kitchen?

Poor Sammy-he is mourning and it will take him a bit, just like us, to recover. He is also sad because you are sad-you have both lost so much. Perhaps you could give him a blanket of Jake's or a toy-the smell might comfort him. I am thinking of you and yes, Jake is with your Mam now, keeping an eye on her. God bless

thx eileen. he is playing today with their ball. he seems to be a little better the last hour. I already brought him out twice today. Its very sad walking without jake.

poor Sammy. he's mourning!
when we lost our 12 year old by last may...our zuki was not doing well at all. she is deaf and was never an 'only dog'. she was literally sleeping 23 hours a day. then one day we brought her to a friends house who has a house full of boxers and Zuki perked up and had a blast. but when we came home......she went right back to her depressed self.
We knew we wanted another boxer and zuki confirmed that it was a good idea. so 3 weeks later we adopted Liam.
it was the best thing we could have done for zuki! (and for us!)
and then......a few months later we adopted Moby.
we have a full house now and we wouldn't have it any other way.
it's great!

No seriously Brenda it wasn't a decision I took lightly. I had toyed with the idea of getting a third for ages, was offered and declined one, then thought about it some more, decided not to but couldn't stop chewing it over.

I then decided that this was my last chance of getting a white docked boxer as the law was changing as from 6th April so spoke about it with the rest of the family and we decided to get Casper.

Glad to hear Sammys perked up some, how are you?
