I just read this thread and am so sorry about the ending. Toby deserved so much better from the shelter and the law. He paid the ultimate price for the lack of care and concern by those charged with his care while at the shelter. I would be dialing an attorney immediately along with all print media and radio and tv media. I would expect to be reimbursed for Toby's medical expenses. I would expect heads to roll at the shelter and Animal Control.

It's so sad for you and Toby. Other dogs may have suffered or died needlessly at this shelter. Definitely find a way to shine the light on these scumbags.

I am so sorry to learn of this sad ending. I cannot find the right words, such a shock. I am thinking of you.

I am not a trouble make of any sort, I am a fairly quiet person, but I believe not a lot would stop me from voicing myself and digging into what happened to Toby, and what the conditions of the shelter really are. If you do not get action, perhaps you can go to a newspaper or television station.

I hope you find peace soon.

You won't get action until you get the sunshine on this so called shelter. That will likely come from the media or a lawsuit. Agencies and law enforcement usually have a self investigation which almost always results iin no negligence on their part. Your vet records and your posts on here are a pretty good diary of Toby's last days. I never want to burden innocent taxpayers with paying for the mistakes by those at the shelter. I want those actually responsible to pay. At the very least they should be unemployed.

I just had a chance to read the whole story. I am so sorry for your family's loss. I think Toby would want you to pursue this case to try to make things better for others to follow. There is no excuse to their denial of everything. (but i'm not sure, can you for sure pin point the time he contracted the illness?) You did all you could do for Toby, and he knew it.
