I'm just thinking of you, Gus and Izzy. So sorry you had to go through this with your baby, we can all see how much you really love both your babies! I'm glad to hear she got to come home and especially that she's feeling better. Lots of hugs and kisses to Izzy!!!! :)

Izzy has yellow mucusy diarrhea today and yesterday. I called the vet and he said to give her pepto. Of course I am worried. No vomitting, which she never had from the begining, and she is eating and drinking just fine. She is playing with Gus too. Should I be worried?

I would take a sample diarrhea to the vet so they could analyze it. After what Izzy has been through you can't be too safe. If they put her on new meds it could be related to that. I feel that when you call and talk to the Dr., Vet. or other professional they only listen for the first few seconds and then form an opinion. If you take a sample in then the Vet could see for themself what you are seeing.

Wishing the best for Izzy and you and Gus, too.

I agree with auntthelm, take a sample to the vet. It may just be her bland chicken/rice diet and/or her system cleaning itself out - has she had any solid good poops since she's been home from the hospital? Any concerns you have, don't hesitate to call your vet. Izzy's just been through a lot!! Sending good vibes out to you all, please let us know how Izzy is doing.

She hasn't had any solid poops. Now, she is trying to poop, but nothing comes out, so not sure whats going on. I called my regular vet and he is the one that told me she could take pepto and to not worry about it. He is very dumb, and I thought my regular vet was in, but his partner, whatever he is, called me. I called the CARE center (ER place she was at for 2 days), and I just talked to a girl at the front desk and she asked someone and they just told her to tell me to call my regular vet. I was kinda pissed, like I just spend over 1000 dollars and you guys are the ones that treated her. I was a little pissed, but then figured that my regular vet should take over since they are an ER place. I think I will email my regular vet, because I know he will read it and respond.

She has a lot of energy and is acting soooo cute and silly. She is starving though, she wants to eat the bowl. She usually never ate like a piggy, like Gus does...he inhales his food, she took her time or left her food till later. Now she is eating as fast as she can. Im not sure if im feeding too much or not enough.

I am glad that Izzy has lots of energy - that is a very good sign. Eating and drinking are also good signs. I know that Izzy is on a bland diet, so it may be that his system is just getting back to normal. He went through quite an ordeal. I would still talk to your vet or email like you said so you can be comfortable with what is going on. I'm sorry the ER place couldn't give you advise over the phone, it would just be nice to know whether what Izzy is going through is something to be expected or not. It is so hard not to worry when our babies get sick. Hugs to you, Izzy and Gus

They sent Izzy home with Sucralfate and Misoprostol for her tummy. I only gave her 2 of the Misoprostol pills since she has been home. It says to give it 3 times a day. I was leary about it since I have to wear gloves to administer it. I just had a bad feeling about it and it scares me to give her anything now. The vet told me that Misoprostol can cause diarrhea, so I stopped that one. It's to coat the stomach and for ulcers. They are not sure if she has an ulcer. I just read that the Sucralfate can cause constipation in a small number of dogs. I wonder if she is constipated now and thats why she is trying to poo. Poor girl.

Anyone have any suggestions what I could give her for her knee pain that won't be hard on her tummy. Her knee is still bothering her and she is limping and sometimes holding it off the ground. They told me I could give her the Tramadol, but I am afraid to. I will definatly not give her the Rimadyl.

No Pancreatitis!!!!

My vet just called and said that Izzy's test came back fine, the PLI test!!!! No pancreatitis.

Anyone know why her pancreas would be inflamed on the x-ray? I should have asked him that. I was so worried. I asked him about the straining to go and nothing coming out, and he said it might be the medications she is on. She is just taking the one now. He said she may not have a BM for a few days since she is eating a bland diet. Maybe she had the diarrhea when she got home because they feed her different bland wet foods at the vet, and she usually has a sensitive tummy anyway. She hasn't pooped since Wednesday when she had the diarrhea. Hopefully she does soon to make me feel better. I hope this never happens again, it was soooo scary. And I bet my baby was scared too.
