When the vet said that she had air in her intestines, what does that mean? i forget what he said.... it was so overwhelming and I don't remember everything.

Her bloodwork came back good, but they are still waiting on the one that is a specialized test for the pancreatitis. They want her to stay there till at least tomorrow (tuesday) morning. If the blood test comes back fine, they are going to start to feed her tonight and hope that goes well. If she still refuses to eat, they will have her see the enterologist. I am going up later to see her. They think she may have had a bad case of gastroeneritis and/or pancreatitis, but they still aren't sure. The vet also said that it could have been from the medications she was on. They said she was doing well enough that I could take her outside to sniff the grass and get some nice spring air. I can't visit longer than 10 mintues though because they don't want her off the IV that long. Hopefully everything will keep coming back fine, and she will eat tonight and be okay with the eating and she will be home tomorrow morning. I hate not having her here, but the vet said she would not recommed me taking her home. I know she will get good care there and if something were to happen, it's better that she is there.

I will keep you posted. If the vet calls with any more results I will post, or I will post after I see her later today.

Just wondering how Izzy is doing? I am so glad you got her to the ER when you did. Her condition sounds serious and she is definitely in the right place. I know all to well how horrible the waiting game is and how bittersweet those short visits in the ICU really here. Please know that we are here for you and Josi and I are sending out lots of healing <<vibes>>:)

I'm so glad you took Izzy in, and they have started testing and treatment of her symptoms. I know how frightening this time is for you, how helpless you feel....you want your baby well and home with you, but she is in the best place right now. It sounds like your vets are doing everything they can to help her through this critical period. Poor sweet Izzy :( I keep you and her in my thoughts, and send loads of healing and positive vibes. Please post updates when you can, take care of yourself.

Izzy might come home today

I couldn't get on the site last night, so couldn't update until today.

I had a nice THREE hour visit with Izzy last night. I went in a 10:30 and left at 1:30. She drank some water!!!!! She seems to be feeling a bit better. She even ate some baby food off one of the staff members fingers. YAH! They want her to eat more before she comes home so they can monitor how she does with food. We are still waiting on her other bloodwork to come back. I took her some boiled chicken last night and some chicken broth, and she didn't want it. They have a nice big room with a big couch that you can visit your pet in, if they can come out of ICU. They said Izzy was doing well enough she could come off her IV for a visit. Last night, she drank water on her own, so they said I could stay as long as I wanted. I was the only one there for a while, and they have 10 rooms. They are really great there. The vet that was on, she saw Izzy when I brought her in for her knee last week. She came in and Izzy gave her a big hug!!! Then, the vet told her to get on the couch, and she helped her up. The vet laid back and snuggled with Izzy.... she is really nice. She is a young vet, but she seemed to know what she is talking about. All the vets are on the same page there about Izzy and doing everything for her. She told me that Izzy was very social and a very, very good boxer. Everyone keeps commenting on how beautiful she is and how good she is. The vet said she could come in any time to see her. Everyone there loves her, but how could you not???? I think they want to keep her, heheh.
I took Izzy for walks outside during my 2 visits yesterday, and she just loved it. She didn't want to come back in, but I think she was hoping we were leaving, LOL. She pooped orange, but they said it wasn't anything to worry about, but it concerns me. When we came inside, she was back to her silly self. They had one of the "wet floor" signs standing up ,and she kept pushing it with her noise to knock it over, LOL!! She seemed a lot more alert and even wiggled at the staff now. She is probably loving all the attention, though when they go to take her back to ICU, she doesn't want to go. I think she thinks I am there to pick her up when I come visit, which is the hardest part. She has to wear one of those lamp shades around her neck, and she absolutely hates it. She was trying to get her IV out. So, I called today and they said she ate a few more bites. I didn't go to visit today yet because they said she may be able to come home today!!!!!!! I hope she can. Keep all the good vibes coming, they are surely helping my babydoll.

I will keep you posted.

Oh, and Gus does miss his big sis so much. He has been looking all around for her and looks sad and depressed. He sleeps most of the day in my bed. I told him Izzy was at the hospital and they were taking good care of her and he put his big head on my shoulder and I just cried. I try to talk to him about her, but I just cry, even though she is getting better. I told him his big sis might be coming home tonight, and he seems more active today. He misses her so much, and I am sure Izzy misses her snuggles with him. Gus has been getting extra snuggles from me and kisses. It is so weird, he will walk in my room and for a minute, I think it's Izzy. He makes a lot of the same noises she does too. It's so sad and weird to not have her home. At least Gus is still eating. I accidentally put his food in Izzy's spot, and he wouldn't eat it. He normally won't eat her food, or in her spot, unless Izzy tells him it's ok.
