Izzy hasn't been eating her food in the morning, but was eating by the evening. Today, she wouldn't eat when we got up, so I didn't think too much of it. But then, I noticed she won't drink. It's almost been 24 hrs since she drank anything. She has been on Rimadyl and Tramadol for a week now for he knee, but I didn't give it to her yesterday or today. I was thinking that made her stomach upset. She had kinda loose stool last night, and then her stomach was making all kinds of noises today. I listened to her bowel sounds with my stethoscope (im in nursing school) and they were hyperactive. She had a BM again today and it was kind of smooshy. I gave her filtered water, I put a drop of water on my fingers, I gave her ice and I tried a popcicle and she wont take any of that. I gave her chicken brothe and she WILL drink that, but just like 2 licks. I don't know if thats a good idea or not, but my mom told me to try it. I am hoping that makes her thirsty. I just didn't know how long to wait until I take her in. I was going to call the doggie ER since it's a sunday and my vet isn't in. I did the pinch test and she isn't dehydrated yet. Im just worried about my baby. She has never refused water, she always drinks a lot of water. She is also very lethargic. Gus wants her to play, and she just lays there. She also keeps going downstairs to lay on the pergo type floor, probably because it's cool..... she never lays down there. She just looks like she doesn't feel good or she is in pain. She eats grass too when we go outside, so I let her, hoping it would help her bring up something if she needed to. We don't have any chemicals in the grass. I just worry so much about my babies. I couldn't get her to eat anything at all. I offered her puppy treats, turkey and even a dorrito (I know, thats bad, but I wanted to see if she would eat anything). She also looks like she lost a few pounds. She was up to 57 pounds and looking really good (it's hard to keep weight on her) but now it looks like she lost those few pounds she recently put on. And, the other day, she chewed up a CD of mine, which was very , very odd because she has never chewed up a thing in her life, and she is almost 3 (in June). She bit little pieces of the CD off, so I am hoping she didn't swallow any of it. I found pieces on the floor, but it was hard to tell if it was all there. I checked her poo, and there was no blood in it, so I guess that is good.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Am I just feaking out about noting? Any advice on how to get her to drink, or should I just let her rest for a while and not try to make her drink? Im going to call the vet tonight if she still isn't drinking.

Austin was recently on Tramadol, I looked up the side effects and it can cause upset stomach and loose stools. I don't know if that's what's happening with your baby, but I hope she feels better soon.

I would call the vet. The not drinking is more of a concern. I hope your girl is better soon

So sorry to hear Izzy isn't well! :( If you feel you should call the vet, please do; you know Izzy best, and if her symptoms and condition are worrying you it couldn't hurt to have her checked. Did her symptoms start after she chewed up the CD? Please keep us posted. I'm sending lots of healing vibes to sweet Izzy, and hope she is better very soon.

She drank some water!!!

A friend of mine that Izzy LOVES to death, came over to see her. She runs the water treadmill that Izzy has been going too, and Izzy loves her so much, probably her most favorite person, after me of course, lol. Her and her boyfriend came over for a bit. Izzy was wiggling all around like nothing was bothering her. She didn't limp on her knee and she didn't act tired at all. I had her outside and she was so excited she peed... she has only done that maybe once or twice when she was a puppy. Then they came in and gave Izzy and Gus a lot of attention, and they both gaves tons and tons of kisses. Then, Izzy was wiggling all around, so excited and was starting to pant. Then she ran into the kitchen and got a little drink of water!!!! She only got a little bit, but at least she had some!! Then, I gave my friend the doggie food, and asked her to give it to Izzy, but she didn't want any. I know she will be ok if she doesn't eat for a while, but the drinking worries me. So, I hope she drinks more tonight, If she doesn't eat by tomorrow, I will call my regular vet. I just cooked her a piece of chicken, so hopefully she eats that.

I would try to give water more than food right now. Call the vet in the morning tell him about the CD, they may want to do a xray. There might be some little sharp piece stuck somewhere causing some problem.
Goodluck and keep us posted,

She chewed the CD on Friday afternoon, and today is Sunday. She is holding her tail real tight against her butt hole, so I am wondering if the CD pieces are coming thru. I really didn't think she swallowed any. I will keep you updated. Now I am really worrying and thinking about taking her to the ER since it's after midnight.

Rimadyl can be a very dangerous drug. There is lots of information on the internet about this drug. It was originally meant for humans, but it was too dangerous so Pfizer put it on the market for animals. Pfizer knows it is a dangerous drug and that it can cause death. They have been taken to court and studies have shown it to be dangerous and yet this drug remains on the market. The symptoms Izzy is displaying could be side effects from Rimadyl. If you haven't done so, look up the side effects of Rimadyl and then ask your vet for a different drug. I wish I had, but it is too late for my baby.
