Went to the Shelter where we adopted Rusty today to drop off his neutering paperwork. (I also brought them dog food & biscuits that Rusty could not eat due to the grain-issue). I asked the administrator to let us know if they get any Boxers in, that we would be interested in adopting another one as a companion for Rusty.

I went on Petfinder today and found an adorable white Boxer, Grace, who is in foster care in Clear Spring, Maryland. She's 3 - 4 years old, spayed, good with other dogs, and needing good foster care/adoption. I need opinions, please, before I show her to Hubby, and put in an application!!! I don't know how to post links, but she is on their website @ petfinder.com/25364479

(I did mention to him that I'm interested in getting another Boxer, during dinner tonight - I made sure I cooked him one of his favorite meals - heehee)

Thanks, everyone!

I looked but couldn't find a picture of her. Maybe someone else can post the link of the dog you are speaking of.

I found her online and Adopt A Boxer Rescue is fostering her. She is beautiful. From what I read it says she has done well with other dogs but is shy. As long as Rusty isn't too rambunctious I think they should get along. Here is the link I found her at,

Saw her online and OMG if I didn't already have 2 dogs I'd snap her up myself. The question would b how is Rusty with other dogs? Good that Rusty is a male...I've had experience with 2 females together...not good. Keep us informed and good luck.

She looks like a real sweetheart. So great that she and Rusty are good with other dogs. Good luck:)

To be honest, I would not run out to adopt another dog until Rusty is settled in a bit.
That being said, sometimes adopting through a rescue can take time, so it doesn't hurt to fill out an application with them and go through the approval process. I just wouldn't get attached to a picture on the internet as you never know if that particular dog will still be available or compatable with the dog you currently own.

;)

good luck!
And enjoy a good month or two with your new dog, get some obedience, socialization and routine under your belts, before you complicate the issue by bringing in a companion.

Congrats on bringing Rusty home.

Wow, she has the sweetest, most loveable face. Good luck. It seems hard to believe, but my Catalina was even skinnier than that when we got her. There is a pic in my gallery. She has since recovered just fine.

2 dogs aren't really much more work than 1, as they entertain each other! Granted, we don't have 2 boxers, but a boxer and a yellow lab.

Unfortunately we can't adopt her

The adopter must live in MD, or states north. They won't even process our application, which is sad, because I think she'd be a perfect match for Rusty (based on her history). And She's only 60 miles from us!

I am sorry you are missing out on this one, but be patient. You still planted that seed, lol. I find that my pets always found me when I least expected it. Now that the door is open, so to speak, you may end up rescuing one that you absolutely fall in love with that really needs you. For the meantime, this give you and Rusty more bonding time. ;)
