Day one of giving fluids & shots

Well, I've made it through one day - providing fluids 4 times and 1 shot plus the pills. The pills are adtually the hardest because he's not eating right now (so I can't trick him with a tasty treat)and getting him to swallow his pills is NOT easy! But he's really good about me sticking that needle in to give him his fluids, just lays right down without any doubts! I think he's feeling better - he'll come over and give me a kiss and lay with his head on my lap. And he pushed Ruby out of the way so that he could get more atttention than her - good signs. I asked my neighbors about poisons and searched the yard - crawled through the rhodies and evergreens. Ruby thought that was great fun - I found a sweater that I've been looking for for a couple of months, several socks (it's so irritating when you can only find one of a pair....now I know why!) but nothing that I could contribute to Sam's health....sure hope the meds work! If anyone has any ideas about high calcium levels for no good reasons, Feel free to let me know! Bye fr now. Deborah

Another update on Sam

The vet seems to think that Sam may have been poisoned so we've been treating heim with the i.v. fluids, prednisone and a shot of miacalcin daily. He really perked up for 4 days - gained back 2 of the 10 pounds that he lost - and then, overnight, got lathargic again. His calcium levels went high again and this morning I notice that his lymph nodes are real swollen. So tomorrow it's back to the vet again to see what that means. His Mom and 2 sisters are pretty much ignored him today, which is pretty weird too. Usually they all play and raise the roof - but the others went outside and he just laid around. I'm still hoping for the best, but have to admit that I'm pretty worried about him...Deborah
