I just got home from pet-smart and I let my little daisy out in my own yard so she can go potty and my neighbor from 3 houses down was out side with his son lighting off fireworks, and his 11yr old son comes running up to my puppy and says Oh my god that's a pitbull puppy!

Before I could even say anything his big husky dad comes up to me, so I explain that she is only 1/4 pit and the rest is boxer and the dad says what a disgrace, she would be better if she was full boxer, and that he will keep his chiwawa inside from now on because my dog might eat him and as he turns to leave he goes "she does have nice fur though" and I was like yah I will keep my dog inside because you might skin her for her fur !

I mean seriusly, what is this world coming to ?

I had just seen the most beautiful pitbull at pet-smart tonight too he was a 5 mouth old blue rusty color, so handsome and really sweet, I even petted him =)

who could call this sweet face "a disgrace."

Don't let ignorant people steal your joy. Your pup is very lucky to have you. Its people who don't care that end up having dogs (any dog) that can be mean and vicious. Their little ankle bitter is probably more vicious then your baby will ever be.

Our girl is full boxer but because her snout is a little longer she is always mistaken for a pitty and I have been told she should have a muzzle on her when I walk her for peoples safety...ugh stupid people. She is such a submissive girl its unreal but they say she's mean.

And I think she is just precious. Who could not love that face :)

beautiful!

Nalabear made a great point when she said about the owners who dont care being the ones with badly behaved dogs!
I think mainly its peoples ignorance and if that neighbour wants to hide his dog away instead of judging your dog based on his behaviour then he's the one in the wrong! If theres a bad dog out there you can bet its down to the dog having a bad owner.
your little puppy's beautiful and anyone who says such nasty things about them doesnt deserve the thought that you'd waste on them. :)

Don't let them get to you. Having owned a full blooded pitbull, I know about all the hate. I've shared this story before, but I will share it again... I had my pitbull Kane at a car meet (he was about 14 weeks old at the time).. there was an older group of people sitting near me and my friends. Kane was being a good quiet boy, chewing on a frisbee in front of my feet. The older couple near us were oogling him a little... saying how cute he was. They continued to ask me the breed. I answer "American Pitbull Terrier". The woman, responded, "Ugh, one day that frisbee will be somebody's leg".... before I went off on her, my friend Steve stepped in and said a few calm, but "educating" words.... It is infuriating to me how naive people are.

It was not the only negative experience I had owning a pitbull... but when you do own one, you have to be prepared for what comes with it, more so than with any other breed. If you don't want to deal with that, leave out the pitbull part of her blood lines.

Here was my boy, threatening? I think not.

thanks

Thank you every one, for the well wishes and insightful advice.
I remember growing up with a 150lb bullmastiff and We took her every where with us and no one said anything about her but then again that was the 90's she was a good dog. My daisy will grow up to be a great member of our dog community regardless of how she looks people can be ignorant all they want we know she is a good dog =)

Thanks again everyone

Best wishes

I completely understand where you are coming from! Samson, who passed away nearly two years ago was Black Lab, Sharpee and other breeds all mixed into one. He was the sweetest, most gentle dog you would ever meet but we were refused by an apartment complex because he had a smigin of Sharpee in him! At the next apartment complex I looked at I left the Sharpee part out of his breed and we were allowed to move! Discrimination happens in so many different forms.........it's sickening!

Seriously, don't let people get to you. Some people are just idiots!

As a pibble advocate and educator myself, I look at every bad instance as an opportunity to educate. My Smiley, pit-boxer, is the friendliest and most happy guy on the streets. He is my embassador to the breed. He is very well trained, behaves beautifully and has changed many of hearts that previously abhored the breed.

So, walk with your head held high, beside your best trained dog and use your experience as a teaching tool.

We can't change all the idiots out there, but we can try one by one.
Well behaved and well trained bullies are the spokesmodels for the discriminate.

A little off topic for this, bit I think it's worth mentioning. I remember seeing a couple weeks ago about the number one breed in the US for reported dog bites- the golden retriever. Now I'm bot saying any bad about goldys, just that stereotypes really do affect peoples opinions. Whens the last time someone was turned away from an apt for having a golden retriever?
