Completely Boxer Crazy
So my newest foster is a 6 week old boxer/pit mix (I think) and he's so stinkin cute - I had to take him out of the shelter. I knew it would be challenging given his age and the fact he's been seperated from his mom way too young. Rocky has been doing a good job of teahing bite inhibition, etc although he still nips and what not- sometimes snaps at the face/ear, etc. - to me these are all puppy behaviors that we correct - and hope one day it gets better. I have a few questions for you regarding other issues that Arthur is having:
1. Sleeping at night --> He's kept in a puppy pen all day when we are gone for work. We go home at lunch to let him out - he's got a bed, water/food, piddle pad, toys in there. He has one of my shirts too as I thought it might comfort him - the smell. He piddles ONLY on the piddle pad so that is awesome. When we get home for work he's crazy hyper and plays and plays all night with Rocky. When they both finally lay down - I'll snuggle with Arthur for a bit then put him in his pen. He'll sleep for 2 hours - then wake up screaming bloody murder for HOURS. I've tried waiting it out. I've tried a small crate in our bedroom - nothing helps. I don't know what else to do with him - he's obviously too young to be OUT of the crate or in bed with us - especially due to issue number 2 (see below)
2. Potty training --> Alright, I admit it. I was spoiled with Rocky. 2 accidents. The dog just GOT it. Arthur - NOT so much. He goes outside when we are out there- but he literally pees EVERY 10 minutes - little dribbles all over my carpet. It's random - like why can't he hold it and go outside ?! We obviously reward, throw a mini party, etc. when he potties outside. He has never had a poop accident in the house. He actually has started to learn to go by the door and hit the bells or bark when he has to go outside to poop. So he's good about controlling that, but not the urine.
Any suggestions about potty training or sleeping at night? I'm so so tired - it's been 8 nights and I was hoping it would get better. I love fostering and I love Arthur with his beautiful green/blue/grey eyes - but he's starting to drive me crazy!
Thanks
