We have both Martin and Boulou chipped and have noticed no side effects whatsoever.

Hope this helps

Hobart Ave.

Boxer Insane
Nestle was chipped when she was getting spayed and Hobart was chipped when he was neutered before coming home from the shelter. I'm actually kind of crazy about it because when they go in for their shots I always have the vet scan them to make sure they still work and are in the right spot. They always tell me that they don't really move around but, hey, it takes 2 seconds and it gives me piece of mind.

My breeder also had the pups chipped before sending them home to their new families. As you can tell from all of the positive replys...it seems like everyone here recommends micro-chipping. Both of my guys are chipped, and have absolutely no side effects or discomfort. It is also great for cats!!

My vet is not chipping any pets right now. He says there is a battle going on between the two biggest chip companies right now. He thinks AVID is going to be the one that comes up on top, but he is going to wait and see before he charges anyone else, and knows for sure that he is putting the right chip in.
Not all the chip places us the same scanner and they are trying to make one universal one.

Is it possible to have more than one chip in? Can they do one for each type of scanner?

Im sorry if thats a dumb question!

Luna is chipped...but i would recomend having it done when you are not in the room. i didn't think anything would bother me being a pedi nurse...but i almost started crying when she was having it placed. i'll just say the needle they use is shocking!!! but as soon as it was done, miss luna was fine and all wiggle butt again!!!

Yes, she is both chipped and tagged. I had her chipped as soon as I got her. She is a tough girl so she did not even flinch.

But, I don't know the answer to it! I am guessing no, just b/c I know my vet is not doing it! But just a guess.
