This is my first post after my intro, I hope this is the right place to put this!
Mike got Roxy from the Humane Society about 1 year ago. She is pureblooded (from what everyone tells us) but she is only 51 lbs. She was born (it was a guess from the vet) in Sept. of 2002 (she will be 2 in Sept.). I just look at everyone else's boxers and ours looks scrawny to me. The vet said she is just a petite boxer, and with her being in the shelter and not being claimed, she was probably from a puppy mill or backyard breader and may not have good blood lines.
Regaurdless we love her with all our hearts and she loves us (Mike a little more than me since she hates me living there now and pees on my stuff and chews all my stuff ect!!!) but I worry about her. The vet said she is healthy now and muscular for her size, but she seems so small. Is there anything we should look/watch for in her?
I am just a new boxer owner and Mike loves them, so I would like to learn as much as I can cause in my vowes somewhere he thinks I agreed to ALWAYS have a boxer!!!! (I sure dont remember that but on our wedding night I was informed!!)
Thanks soooooo much....cant wait for the advise.

My adopted/rescued boxer only weighs 22kg (48lbs). So dont worry about it, just enjoy the smallness :D

My Lily looks pretty big to me when we are lying down, but dogs at the park tower over her lol. I kinda like having a smaller boxer, but knowing my luck the next one will be a monster

Bella is a small boxer but her mother was small, so maybe her parent(s) were small. I wouldn't worry they come in all sizes as I've learned here and we love her just the same..she stands under Bubba oh well!

I think you did some adding wrong lol she'll be 3 in Sept if she was born in 2002. Anyhow, She just may be a petite little girl :) My Cinnamon is going to be big which isnt good because she'll be over the standard she already stands at 22 1/2 inches and shes only 10 months

Our girl is 6 and she weighs about 45 lbs., we thought she was small also, but according to the people at the boxer rescue where we adopted our white monster-boxer, Jackson, (75 pounds), she is just about the average for a female.

51 lbs is not particularly small. Smaller than average, but not remarkably small.

My champion bitch is at perfect weight at 55 lbs and she's not even at the lower end of the correct range for height. Unfortunately, there are some very big, doggish girls that skew people's perception of what "correct" is.

I've seen some real shrimps in the mid-40s, but 51 sounds perfectly reasonable for a petite gal.

My boxer is just 13 months and weighs around 37 pounds, very petite. She is around 18 inches at the shoulders.

Your comment about a puppy mill is interesting. I was just speculating on that point about our Annie. We got her from a dog pound about a month and a half ago and the vet figures her to be about 8 months old. She weighs 37 pounds. Compared to my son's fully registered female who at 17 months weighs 50+ pounds. We discussed the possibility of bloodlines making a difference. But that difference is strictly physical...they are both have that big boxer heart:).
