I hope this can be of some help...
My previous dog had really bad diarrhea. I would come home at lunch to have to clean him and his kennel and the area around the kennel every day and when I came home from work every night it would be the same thing. Then I would have to let him out every 2 hours to make sure he didn’t make a mess. My vet did all the fecal and blood work, he did the ultrasound, and he also did the x-rays. Nothing could find the problem. Finally my vet asked me what was going on in my life and I told him I was moved out of my home and in the process of getting a divorce. We put my boy on the bland diet (cooked ground meat and rice) and some supplements (similar to the Solid Gold multi-vitamin/mineral supplement) to keep him healthy. He was also taking Lactobacillus Acidophilus a friendly digestive bacteria (which is why you were told to give yogurt). He was not allowed to eat anything else. When I would move about the room, I had a 6’ leash around my waist so he would have to come with me and I could keep a constant eye on him. We would also give him Gatorade as often as possible to help keep him hydrated (he really liked an apple one). I also spent as much time laying on the floor with him and just petting him and keeping him calm. He started to really gain some strength and get some weight back on him this way. Once he started to do this, my vet slowly had us move him over to Hills I/D canned for about a month and he was totally stabilized. Once this happened I moved him very slowly over to the food I kept him on until he passed away this August.
It seems we all have gotten sort of off track. I wish you luck and I hope you are able to find out what the problem is with your pup so you don’t feel the need to surrender him.
