I have found a sweet white boxer boy..health tested & BAER tested. She is asking $550.00 for him. Her others are selling for $750.00. I am just thinking that is a little too much. I spoke to the breeder on the phone for over 2 hours talking about her dogs and such and I really like her but the price seems high. She is in NC so is that price about right???

Actually I was thinking it was remarkably inexpensive :) Obviously, prices will always vary by area, so the advice of someone fairly near to you is the most valuable, but anytime this sort of topic has come up on the board in the past, prices tend to be closer to the $1000-1500 range for puppies from properly health tested stock.

A white puppy may be a little cheaper than his coloured littermates, but really, it isn't likely to be all that much. A white puppy cost exactly the same to produce and raise as his coloured littermates... ;)

We paid over $1000.00 and he is worth every penny ;) I'd do it again in a heart beat!!!

I am ok paying that much for him but my hubby is the one who says its too much because he only paid $250.00 for our Sinbad 10 yrs ago.

I was really impressed by the fact she has all the health testing already done!! I am so very excited!!! I really want him!!!

Well of course the health testing should already be done. It is the parents that need to be health tested (before they're bred), not the puppies :) See www.boxerworld.com/health_testing and www.boxerworld.com/faq

Perhaps your husband will understand that prices have changed in ten years. LOL - everything costs twice as much now as it did then, and breeding dogs is no exception.

I would make sure you can get copies of the health tests of the parents. Also 10 years ago were the parents of your husband's dog health tested? I mean you can get a boxer puppy for less but you will be purchasing from a back yard breeder or someone who does not health test and just tells you that their vet checks. Which means absolutely nothing but a vet exam. Also does this breeder show her dogs? Anyway if you have asked all the questions and got the right answers etc. and feel the breeder is reputable than I don't think that is a high price. I'm in FL and our pet quality female (with champion parents) from a very reputable breeder was $650. Our breeder continues to show and only breeds when she is ready to continue her line and improve it with another show pup. Good Luck in your search.

I don't think so!!! That is what I am trying to explain to him now!! I tj=hink he is just worried about getting attached to another dog after losing Sinbad!

I agree, $550 is super cheap. I want to get another one in the future and am planning on paying at least $750-1000. $550 for a fully health tested pup, is an awesome, better snatch that one up, kind of offer.

I thought ethical breeders charge only what will cover the vet bills for the white pups since they cant ethically "sell" them. I have heard of some that take a donation for the loical boxer rescue for their white pups......
