My name is Miki and I am the owner of a brindle boxer named Lucy who was born on 11/22/2002. I am a medical professional living in Burlington County, New Jersey, USA. I work FT outside my home. I have two sons, Timothy and Michael. The older son attended a private school and the younger son was homeschooled. My older son is married and my youngest is a student at the University of Pennsylvania.
My home has never been without at least one dog, but Lucy is my first boxer. We received Lucy when she was 6 weeks old and our older rottweiler became her surrogate mother. They remained the closest of friends until the rottweiler died from cancer. Lucy is now a surrogate mother to my son's girlfriend's dog that I am taking care of as she is also a student at the University of Pennsylvania which does not permit pets in dorms.
I found this group with an internet search for, "Boxer back and leg problems". My boxer has developed some back issue over the last 6 months, which have me extremely concerned. She has been successfully treated with muscle relaxants, steroids, and opiate agonist to control symptoms during episodes of discomfort and debility. I am naturally very concerned and upset whenever the symptoms reoccur. I cannot imagine life without Lucy, from her little tap dance at the top of the stairs when I come home to her other boxer antics.
