Five months old, doesn't mind cats at all. In fact she wants to play with them. Any ideas on how to introduce them? Of course the cats aren't as anxious to meet her as she them.:D

I ensure that the cats have a place to escape the "dreaded beast" and let them sort it out. My cats pretty much endure Cassius, though the youngest one will play with him

It took a month or so for our cat to get used to the boxer pup, after that they just played around with eachother..

Just make sure the cat has a place to escape to where the dog can't get her..

It's all a matter of patience from there

Hi rudy
it will take a while when my pup emmy met the cat she just wanted to play, but that meant jumping on top of him, which tiger (the cat) really didnt enjoy. But since then they have sorted out what the rules are, and now tiger is beating up Emmy hahaha:p
It just takes time, but do it as soon as possible. Yeah just make sure the cat can escape. GOOD LUCK

Cats & Boxers can be great friends

One thing I've noticed is that Boxers seem to use their paws the same way a cat does, which makes the play times between my Boxer puppy and my two old cats fun to watch. The oldest cat really loves the Boxer and will rub up against her chest as a greeting and then start playing with her. They chase each other all over the yard and then stop and bat each other with their paws and then lick each other and start all over again. The cat is totally unafraid of my Boxer pup.

One evening we saw our puppy do something that, considering her young age at the time, seems to be an instinct. She was
"bull baiting" our oldest cat by lunging first at the front of the cat and then the back of the cat, totally immobilizing the cat, without hurting it or biting or nipping it. The puppy barked at each lunge.

I had watched a show on t.v. about how dogs were used in the past...and this was exactly they type of behaviour that bull dogs were supposed to be famous for...fearless with bulls, making the bulls paralyzed and easily handled by their human owners?? To think that my puppy instinctively knew how to do this was amazing. Especially since "bull baiting" is not something that I've heard that Boxers were bred to do, even though one history said they were used as "Butcher's Dogs".....????

I brought a kitten into my household this past Easter and it was the best thing I did for my boxers. I have pictures (as soon as I can I will post them) sleeping together on the couch. Now, Britnee (the old bitch as we lovingly call her) doesn't even pay attention to Stripes (the kitty). Stripes does pay a lot of attention to Brit though. When he hears her coming around the corner (her tags make noise) he will shake his butt and get ready to pounce. Brit just looks at him like ok furball whatever. Baylee on the other hand plays with him. She will knock him off the sofa (actually box him off the sofa) and then they go at it. When Bay gets too rough-he runs behind the sofa or the tv. But it never involves any flying fur. I just keep an eye on him. Now, they don't play all day they just play sometimes usually the kitty starts it by attacking Baylee around the corner or when she is resting. When I introduced them I just held the kitty and let the dogs sniff him, although this didn't work when I watched my sisters kitten, her kitten through a "hissy fit" literally. So, I guess it just depends on the cat and it's temperment. Good luck, and make sure you always keep an eye on them when they are playing so no one gets hurt. Since, you never know with dogs or cats when things will get out of control. My kitty is always behind me everywhere I go so I always know where he is at least. Good Luck!

Jing and Rocks play all the time, Jing usually starts it though :D She will go up and pounce on Rocks or while he is sleeping she will sneak up and bite his butt. He hates anything touching his butt so then the chase is on. They box with each other and if it gets too rough Jing will nip Rocks on the chest or his toes (that is the only place she can reach LOL) because she doesn't have any claws. Sometimes she will run and get on one of the dining room chairs and then all you can see is her little paw reach out and bat Rocks on the nose :p :p Just yesterday Rocks was sleeping on his bed and Jing came up to him and was smacking his nose trying to wake him up to play :) Jing is also 18 but gives him a good run :D
