yeah I think they sound good too. Having that tunnel would keep the wind and rain out too. A nice cushion and even some extra bedding would make it nice and comfie for the dog. We will be able to postion the kennel so it will be sheltered anyway. I'm not so sure about the door flap, but might be worth getting if we feel she is not comfortable enough in there at night.

My parents have one for their boxer he loves it. My boxer likes to go in it at their house. It really does keep a good temp in the summer and winter. We have one but, Zeke is rarely outstide but sometimes if we are outside he will go lay in it.

The foam cushion was torn up by both dogs in a matter of minutes. We simply bought huge blankets to go in it.

Also the doors you can buy for the winter were torn off both houses by both dogs. Our boxer was actually afraid of the door. Zeke doesn't really go in his often because he is kept inside while we are at work or gone and he sleeps in the house with us.

well...

Well, I see the point of all the other posters, but I must admit that my boxer spends a lot of time outside. She loves to be outside - and I'm not about to deny her that. She does, however, prefer to sleep inside just outside my bedroom door. I have a doghouse built onto the house that has baseboard heat & a window, a hallway, etc... - so I don't feel guilty leaving them outside. I'd rather have them be roaming the backyard playing and running when I'm at work than in a crate with a kong with nothing to do other than chew on a kong. HOWEVER, before I get attacked - each dog owner raises their dog differently - and I'm not going to say anything against one way or another.

I've heard the dogloo's are good for awhile, unless your boxer gets bored - and then they play with them. My neighbors dog had one - and it's now basically torn up on the side of their house (where they seem to prefer things they just can't throw away). Give it a shot - but don't get mad at him/her if it doesn't work!! :)

hello from Fla.

Once you weed through all the chastising, you can find helpfull info here.
My two sleep indoors in the evening, but spend alot of time out doors, weather permitting, gets a little hummid in Florida, but we live in north Florida almost Georgia. an igloo sounds great along with an out door kennel as long as your dog has shade and protection from the elements. When needed I'm sure you would bring your dog inside.

I personally will not ever have a dog that sleeps outside. As long as my boys are under my care, they will never sleep anywhere that I wouldn't and I wouldn't sleep in a dogloo. Would you? With that said, here's my two cents about dogloos. Beau did have to sleep in one at my parents' house for 2 weeks until I was able to bring him to my apartment. It collected a large amount of mud and dirt in the bottom and rubbed his joints. I couldn't put anything besides hay in it for him to lie on because he shreds anything with stuffing. He pulled all the hay out and was left to lie on the bare bottom. My dad made the dog houses for all his dogs and they are big enough to put a dog "cot" in so the dogs don't have to lie on the wooden bottom. IF I ever have a dog house in my backyard (which I doubt), then I will have one large enough to put a cot in so they don't have to sleep on the floor of the house.

I too think everyone raises their dogs differently, and most with the best intentions. My boxer sleeps outside simply because my parents (who i live with) make me do it. She has a big kennel right outside my windows (which are always open so i can hear her) which is filled with blankets (two towels, a large folded duvet, 3 fleecy blankets) and a heating pad for when it gets too cold. She is also outside when no one is home because i cant keep any windows open for ventilation and it gets like a sauna closed up. She enjoys lying under trees and exploring, something she cant do closed up in a crate (even though i know a crate has its security reasons). She is inside all of the time i am home, and im a uni student so its alot. She is definately a home-body so i am comfortable keeping her outside when im not home.
I think its great she will be with you all day inside when you are working.
As long as she gets lots of loving and lots of inside time with you i say go for it if thats what you want :)
Lol buying a dogloo is a good idea with the tunnel. I made her kennel a tunnel myself so wind wont come in as much and it looks so crap  But it works!
If you are going to love and look after your dog as much as you know how, then dont let anyone else put you down for it :D

I agree with Checkers, so many people have in their heads what is the wrong or right way to raise their Boxer, but I think you should let your dog tell you!!! As far as Boxers NOT being outdoor dogs, I beg to differ... I personally have never met a Boxer that does not like to be outside for extended amounts of time, (except when it is raining of course) my boy Killian a lot of times (when we were in our old house with the fence, we don't have one yet at our new house) would simply refuse to come in a lot of nights, even when it was a bit chilly, and was content to lounge on the deck until he wanted to curl up in his dogloo. Yes, he has a dogloo. If he wanted in, he would so politely knock on the window until we got up to open the door. Our previous boxer Samson would do the same thing. He loved to be "on patrol" so to speak, always alert to what was going on in the neighborhood. I do believe that Boxers need lots of love and attention and to know that they are part of the family, but I believe that people with the knowledge of how to care for their pets just have different ways of doing things, and I believe you will care for and love your dog just as much as the rest of us, even if he is outside some of the time. BUt, you never know, you may decide you would rather listen to him snoring next to you at night.... :) Best of luck with your new pup, you have so much fun ahead of you!

She is not going to feel comfy in there at night, WHY are you wanting her to sleep outside I dont understand? The bathroom would be better than outside in the rain and wind and I dont care if it gets cold to you outside it will her. You intentions are to put her out at night how can we get that wrong?

People, read his original post! You keep saying they are pack animals (which i agree on) and he is saying he is going to be with her ALL DAY inside. Not many other boxers get to be with their 'pack leaders' all day and not be alone for 8-9+ hours. Some people like them in their beds, some in a crate, some in another room and some outside. Personal preference.
