Dang weather!
With all the snow (that is now deeper than Jersey is tall) and the cold temps, I just can't beat the blahs. When the temp got to minus 1 yesterday I almost cheered! I never thought I'd live to see the day when a minus 1 temp would be -warm- to me.
I like the Science Centre tropical idea. I'm a huge gardener (member of
http://visitors.gardeningclub.com/home.asp) so I bring the outdoors in for the winter. We moved into this house last summer (yes, the summer where the heat was so oppressive) and it has the original windows (over 60 years old). The water I leave out for the violets actually froze, inside the house sitting on the windowsill!
I say all us local folk call up the Science Centre and tell 'em we're coming over for a boxer bash in the tropical area. :D
So far I've not come up with anything really good to combat the winter blues. I will suggest the Science Centre to hubby, but will be sad to leave Jersey at home. I might also try forcing some bulbs early in the basement, as I don't think the 100 bulbs I planted in the fall will be blooming anytime soon. I did try the BBQ idea, and a nice steak went well in my tummy. I can't imagine walking the Lakeshore now, with the wind and cold, though the shops down there are great (we used to live there). Any more ideas? It's too bad we had to cancel our clicker class, that would have gotten us out and occupied, but now that I'm taking on some weekend work, even that is on hold. Silly winter!
