I had stopped by the Spring Road park another day, but it doesn't look like it is completely fenced in - was I at the wrong place? It bordered 53 so I thought it would be too dangerous to let my dogs off - I went to Mayslake instead.

I am very close to Pratt Wayne and would definitely be interested in having a Boxer Bash there. I love that park! How does Sunday afternoon look for you?

I was thinking of going up there this sunday morning. As a matter of fact, i live in streamwood right now, and grew up in bartlett. Kind of a small world

Linswatson: The Spring Road park is fenced in pretty well. There are two "entrances - exits" but they are fairly small and the rest of the area is well fenced in. Usually - anyway all the pups run in circles in the very center or towards the fence & treese. I have been there several times and never had any problems or worries about Lennox or any other dog running off.

Definitely come by and check it out again :)!

Has anyone been here?

Has anyone been here?
East Branch Reservoir Forest Preserve Dog Exercise Area
City: Glendale Heights
Directions: 1 mile north of North Avenue on the west side of Swift Road.
Hours: 1 Hour after Sunrise and 1 Hour after Sunset
Benches, Fences, Restrooms, Shelter, Tables, Trash Cans,
Parking, Lighting, Water Available

It says it is totally fenced in. I've never been there. Also says no permit required. Max is only 14 weeks old and I don't know how comfortable I am taking him to a dog park that isn't totally fenced in, since he is still learning come.

Sounds like the right location. Yes it is not completely fenced in. The dogs don't really seem to notice the open sides when they are all playing together - but I can understand your concern. Maybe someday they will get a clue and closed in the west side of the area by the building.

I believe that does require a permit from the dupage forest preserve. here is an section form their website:

"After much planning, the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County is ready to start work on improvements at the off-leash dog area at East Branch Forest Preserve in Glendale Heights.

As a result of the construction, the off-leash area will need to be closed from mid-June until October. While the District recognizes that the construction will be an inconvenience, it encourages permit holders to visit the District's other six off-leash dog areas while East Branch is closed.

For permit holders who wish to surrender their permits rather than use the other areas, the District will accept returned permits between June 1 and July 1. Those permit holders will then receive predetermined, prorated refunds. Once construction is completed in the fall, though, dog owners will not be able to repurchase their permits at a prorated amount for the remainder of the year."

What time is good for you? I'm there! Maybe I can get Guiness again for the playdate too!

Yup, right place, it was along the building side that it wasn't fenced - I was so annoyed! Buford has "selective hearing" when there are other dogs around, (I'm lucky if he even looks at me if I call his name) so there is no way I'd comfortable letting him off leash there. I'd be happy to meet up anywhere that is completely fenced though - Mayslake is great and I always see one or two other boxers there, plus there always seem to be a lot of large dogs there that aren't intimidated by my two.

Anyone from around Decatur? I want to take Rocky somewhere to run and play but I don't know of any dog parks around here.
