Boxer Insane
One thing i will have to say is....We are all quite passionate about our boxers and wanting them and loving them!! If this post does not prove it.....i don't know what will....
We should rejoice that we all have a diehard love for these animals and THAT is our commonality!! With that being said....we are also quite diverse individuals with lots of different perspectives and experiences!!!
I have quite the take on rescue.....on the bad side....the first time we tried rescue was to get an english bulldog of eight years....we were SO excited and anxiously agreed to meet the dog almost three hours away....during the 'phone' interview...we were asked how much did we think we planned to spend on this dog in the first year( a normal question)...and when i replied between $1000-$2000 we got lambasted with mean spirited comments and the 'what if she needs hip replacements, heartworm treatments....ect.....To be honest i had never thought about it and felt so bad i withdrew our application and cried! She was not nice and was rather rude and implied that 'poor people' should not be taking on older dogs with problems.....Let me be the first to agree!! I had no idea she had problems and was glad to have had someone be honest....yes she was rude and yes she blunt and to the point....at first i was angry...but quite honestly....not everyone is perfect and i probably could not do her job worth a d---
On the good side....I am SO GLAD we did not get her because i would not have had the fantastic experience i did with the rescue we went through (and now volunteer with) and would not have my precious clumsy blockhead Telmar(he is eating a box right now!)....some things are just meant to be and I would not change a thing!! I DID get the perfect dog and worked with some incredibly unselfish people who rearranged their schedules both for the home visit AND when we announced we wanted to come and get him at 11:00 pm the night we were told we were approved!!
All in a nutshell.....to me...rescue is a wonderful thing....kind of like a relationship.....we all want one so perfect to add to our lives....you just never know what you are going to get!! Some people are nice and some just get the job done.....Its the boxers in the end that we will remember...not the people who were less than enthusiastic for US!!
Be patient...forgive nastiness and hope for the best!!
