update
Well, she's still smiling and wiggling...but we have had three very restless nights...she can't seem to settle down. I don't know if it is pain, or what... She sleeps in our bedroom on her big round bed, and she's up and down all night, wanting to go outside just to stand around, I keep waking up to her looking at me over the edge of the bed. Poor girl.
The tumor in the groin area has grown significantly the past few days. I can now see it where I couldn't tell before.
I'll let you know what the vet says tomorrow.
I am just hoping for an easy passing when it is time.

I too am sorry to hear about what is going on with Semmi- Please do whats best for her though.
I too went thru this many years ago with a collie/shepherd mix named Josh that was my first furkid. (on my own) Him and I went thru SO much together. I still cry at the drop of a hat thinking about him. I know I let him be here on earth too long for my own selfish reasons. (It was to the point that I was carrying him around, to go outside and such- I know I'm nuts- I just loved him so much though...)

Just checking in to see how Semmi was doing. Rocky since he has had cancer sleeps with me and we get up sometimes 3-4 times a night and he will go outside bark and ready to hop back in bed (rather me pick him up and put him in bed) When the vet said he only had 6-8 weeks we decided to let him sleep in our bed (he always wanted to sleep with us but he was a bed hog so only occationally did we allow him in our bed but now he sleeps where ever he wants. He rules this household and is spoiled soooo bad. Never under estimate the stength and faith these boxers have to live. I just enjoy every minute God has allowed us to have him. I wake up and make sure he is covered. But he is worth every minute. I pray that you and Semmi will have a lot of time to share and make memories.....Keep me posted...Rocky the Moose and Mom

Hello to all
We went to the vets yesterday morning and were the first to arrive. I love our vet and her staff. We all crawled around in the floor while hubby and I laid Semmi down for the doc to check her out. The tumor is significantly larger in her groin area, and the vet said that we aren't going to operate and we are going to make her as comfortable as possible. The one on her leg has seemed to have slowed down just a bit, but it is still ugly and mean looking.
The vet gave us Prednisone and Previcox for the pain and inflammation. We started the Prednisone yesterday evening and the Previcox last night. She had another restless night, from midnight to 3am she was pacing and panting like a crazy woman. We went out a couple of times, got a couple of drinks of water, and finally settled down at about 3am. She's had a good day today. We set the baby gate up on the back deck and she and Oscar have been in and out playing all day.
The vet said it is a very short period of time. Her lymph glands are swelling, and with the location of the tumor at the groin, there isn't much hope. She said if the Previcox and Prednisone do not help, that we need to think about letting her go.
She then crawled down in the floor, hugged Semmi up tight and whispered in her ear for a long time. I couldn't hear what she was saying, and neither could hubby, but I thought it was sweet.
She and her staff made sure I had their phone numbers, and that they would come in anytime we had an emergency with her.
So keep our little girl in your thoughts. She's doing well and smiling today, so as long as she is doing that, we're good.

i cried for a long time when i read this because my boxer is os very ill and i cant let her go yet..She has cancer of the lymphnodes and wont be here much longer the vet said..It is very sad with our pets who we all love as if they were our child

I was very touched by the vet whispering into Semmi's ear - how fortunate you are to have a vet like that.

Ya'll just don't know how much your support and prayers mean to hubby and I. He was hanging over my shoulder last night when I was typing the update and was amazed at the support on this board. He's really never been much a bulletin board kinda guy, but he was really glad that we had found this site and some of the resources on here.
Semmi slept OK last night. Hubby and I climbed into bed with the furkids in the floor last night to watch Cars at about 8pm. Our neighbors started making a ton of noise at about nine, and hubby got up to check on things. Oscar got up with him, but Semmi didn't. She just laid there. She's probably tired, I'm sure. She kept getting in her crate all evening yesterday evening for no reason at all.
He convinced her to get up at 10p to go out to potty and then back to bed...at midnight she was up pacing and panting again, so I took her out to potty and get a drink of water, and coaxed her back to bed. She huffed and puffed around a bit until about 2am, then finally slept through to my alarm going off at 6a.
He's home with her today and is going to keep an eye on her attitude. She was chipper this morning, and ate well, so she must have felt a little better.

Keeping Semmi, you and your family in my thoughts and prayers. The one thing that is so obvious in this thread is the love you have for Semmi, and her for you. You are blessed. Sending wishes that this remaining time be filled with LOVE, peace and comfort, and if you're feeling a little heavy around the shoulders, that's just our arms around you helping you through this most difficult time. Hang in there sweety...keep us posted. (((HUGS))) to you guys and Semmi from me, Xena and Spirit.
