I like that! I get asked if Charlie Paper is a pitbull a lot too. I agree that many people aren't well educated about what breed is what. They get confused, and most people I know have never even heard of a white boxer, so it makes no sense to them. Oh well...some people will just never learn I guess.

But I never thought about it enough to be offended! Dozer is brindle and I have been asked a million times if he is a pitbull... In Bavaria (the part of germany we live in) Pitbulls have been banned and the Polzie can just walk up and shoot them in the head if you have one (pitbull's that is)!

That is why I get nervous about people asking me if he is a pitbull because a LOT of people who are in the army get their pitbulls into Germany by saying that they are Boxer mixes!!!!! This only adds to the confusion around here! But I always correct people reguardless!

Little kids that don't know always run across the street when I am walking him because he is big but then they see a littel girl that knows him run up and pet him and on their way back form school most of them ask to pet him they probably feel really silly walking all the way across the road just to find out my dog LOVES people!

I understand how you feel

Rocco has been called almost everything from a mix bread to a pitbull. One time we stoped at a gas station on a road trip and Rocco got out the man inside says to me wow that's a pretty rottweiler. A rottweiler! He's a flashy brindle. Most of the time people come up and say is that a pitbull. But only once a man came up to me and points at Rocco and says that a boxer? I said no he's a tea cup poodle and walked away. Some times it makes me so mad!

I have never been asked if my Zeus was a pitbull, but I do get "is that an american bulldog" quite often. It doesn't really bother me though....once I tell people he is a boxer most of them say they have never heard of a white boxer.

My BF and I were walking Deuce the other night after dark and a couple of young guys were walking out of their house and Deuce saw them before we did and went running right up to them. I couldn't believe how scared they were! They looked like the kind of guys that try to act all tough but Deuce stopped them dead in their tracks. One of them said "that is one bad pitbull!" I corrected them but probably wouldn't have if I had been alone. I don't mind using other people's incorrect stereotyping and ignorance to my benefit.

Jazz' brindle color gets a lot of "is that a pitbull?" questions...I keep meaning to print off a photo of a pit's face and have that on me, whip it out and say "See the face? Different eyes, different nose" etc.

Ha Haaa..me too and I did that! I keep it with me all the time just to show folks when they want to disagree with me. Like I don't know what kind of dog I have!!! I got offended the first couple of times and then realized that some people just don't know, no fault of their own so I just show them the differance. I think it's Coco's color too that causes a lot of mistaken identity.

As I have mentioned on previous postings, hardly a day goes buy when someone doesn't mistake my beautful, perfect, brindle boxer for a pitbull.

Also, the province in Ontario is moving forward on legislation to ban the pitbull... than the fun is really going to start. I would imagine people will be reporting me to the police on a daily basis.

I don't get a chance to correct people. Diabla is a brindle but most people around where I live know that she is a boxer, but the ones that think she is a pit bull anyways either run (dumb thing to do with any dog) or stay so far away that you really don't have time to correct them before they are gone.
