Your last line about them spending their first anniversary together in twelve years gave me happy chills. What a pleasant thought during an unpleasant situation.

My heart goes out to you...

Chris,
I just saw this thread, and I'm so sorry you lost your mom. My mom died six years ago, and everyday I think of her and wish she was still here!

I will keep you and your family in my thoughts and prayers!

Thank you Barb, and to everyone else who has replied. It's been 5 weeks and 3 days and I still feel like it's a bad dream. I read in another post where Elbykitty wrote that when her Mom died she felt that if she could die of a broken heart she would. I feel the same way. I know it could have been worse, she could have gotten some long drawn out sickness and suffered, and I'm grateful she didn't, but it doesn't change the fact that she's not here with me. I still haven't gone back to her house yet, I guess there's plenty of time for that. I just feel so lost and lonely, and can't believe this actually happened to me. I go to sleep every night with the image of her laying in her bed and wake up with it every morning. My kids do ok during the day, but at night when their minds slow down they cry for their Gramma. I don't know what to do. I went to counseling, but why should I pay someone to tell me everything I'm feeling is normal? Maybe a support group would be better. But thank you all again for your thoughts and prayers, I really need them.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I can't imagine what you are going through. Sending healing and helpful prayers your way. Not sure if this will help but my best friend just lost her mom a couple weeks ago and she was feeling the same way you are. She told me she has started a journal and she writes to her mom all the time as if she were right there with her. She said it helps at least ease the pain.
