I lost Dexter today

Hello friends,

Today I had to help my sweet boy Dexter to the bridge at 13 & 1/2 years old.

If I ever had one, Dexter was my soul mate. I knew it from the first time I saw him, when he was only two days old. I knew it the first time he opened his eyes and he looked at me. And I knew it today, the very last time I looked in his eyes. He was my soul mate.

I have been so blessed to have had two wonderful Boxers in my life for so many years. I know I should feel like the luckiest person in the world, but right now my heart is broken, for the second time. And now I am Boxerless....

I have my sweet, goofy Border Collie, Cowboy, to help me now. And my friends here. I've been away from the board for a while, but felt the need to come here today and share. My babies are together again at the bridge.

To my Dexter:
I will miss you baby. Run with Ginger now, and play! Tell her I miss her too, and I will see you both again one day. Thank you for all the love you have given me. Thank you for your tremendous heart, courage, friendship and strength. You didn't want to leave me, I know, but it was time. Cowboy will take care of me for now, so don't you worry about me!!

I'm so sorry Melanie. I remember well when you lost Ginger. Yes, they are together now, but that doesn't mend your broken heart. I love his grey face in your avatar. You were blessed to have him for 13 1/2 years, although it's never long enough. ((hugs))
