Hi there. I am Donna and I am the proud owner of 3, count 'em, 3 boxers! I have 2 females, one white, one brindle and 1 male, brindle. My latest one is the brindle female that was added to our family just last weekend. She is 17 months old and came from a family who had just lost their jobs and they wanted homes that could better care for their dogs (2 boxers). When I saw a picture of Marley, I was smitten. She has the most adorable face I've ever seen on a boxer. She has a shorter muzzle and very round eyes. She was the runt of the litter so she is very small. When I saw her for the first time, I was struck by how tiny she was. She was also very thin. I could see her spine and her hip bones very well but didn't comment to the woman who brought her to meet me. I know she had to have already known she was thin. So I knew my mission was to put some weight on her real soon. She went to the vet for the first time this past weekend and she weighed in at 39 pounds. She was tested for heartworm and tested negative and put on preventative. Her name was already Marley so we just kept the name because she was used to it. I tried calling her Marbles, but it just didnt sound right so Marley it is.
Dempsey is my other brindle and he is 10 months old. He came from a local woman who had both the mom and dad (backyard breeder?). He was the lightest out of his litter and they were all brindles (mom was fawn, dad brindle). He's not as big as his daddy but he's still young. I have noticed lately that his head is getting larger (his dad had a HUGE head).
Last but not least, Pearl is my white female. She came from a woman in a town about 60 miles away. I found the ad and was determined to have her. She was supposed to be 6 months old but she was more like 9 so she is about a year old now. She is currently in her first heat cycle and is due to be spayed next week along with Dempsey. I thought about breeding them but decided against it for all the right reasons.
So there you have it, all my boxers. I am looking forward to learning alot and contributing what I can to this group. Thanks for having me.
