Oh my goodness! Harley is the gassiest little furbaby I have ever seen! It is excessive and she is running us out of the house. I have read several posts about gas, but didn't find anything about how to get it to stop. Anyone have any suggestions?

It is constant and as funny and cute as it is, it stinks like crazy! Our guests have noticed it and usually hear it when she does it. I can't help but crack up while I'm writing this. Everytime she does it she looks at me like "what was that?", then she sniffs around like "hmmm, where'd that come from?".

Please help my little pooter!

My Isabella does the same thing. I don't know either how to stop it. We have just accepted it and warn any guests that it might happen. Lots of Luck!

Hey. Sorry no help here. However I had to respond, as I read the note I just kept laughing more and more. !!!:D
I can't understand how something so cute can be soooo stinky
I'm reading this at work and others are asking what is so funny..if you don't have a boxer you won't understand!!!!
Our Cassisu is a little windy at times too,
I can only imagine her little face wondering where that smell came from??? "Mum, what is that smell!! it's not me!! I'm your little angel!!

We put a tablespoon of plain fat-free yogurt on Apollo's kibble in the morning and that seems to have cut down on it significantly. We notice a slight increase in his toots after he enjoys a peanut butter filled Kong, so we limit those. Lots of BW members recommended the yogurt. try it!

I too would second the fat-free yoghurt! It works great. The still 'toot' but MUCH less than when they don't get the yoghurt.

I'm still laughing at your description of Harley wondering where her toots came from. Annie does this too. She'll toot, look at her butt, and then start chasing her tail. TOOOO FUNNY!

Yogurt hasn't cured anything for Annie. Fortunately for us, they only rarely stink. There is no rhyme or reason to why or when they will be smelly. We just have to warn guests. They usually find it pretty funny as well.

My girls choked us out of the room all the time, until I started giving them yogart in their food-AHHH they don't smell too bad if at all now. I used to wake up in the morning-go out into the living room and come back into my room a few minutes later and the room smelled soooo bad! They still let em rip don't get me wrong that is just the boxer in them. But, they don't REEK! Whew! Good Luck, also I didn't look to see where you live but they have this stuff in the pet store that has a boxer on the front of it- I guess it is like a beano for dogs! I have never really looked at what is in it but if the yogart doesn't work you could look into that. Good Luck, Bay and Brit send some squeaky non smelling ones your way....hehesmashicon ;) nonoicon

Have a good one-

POOTING SOLUTION! Throw out your gas masks!

Hi all!

I have the answer to all of your problems. My old girl has the same problems once in a while and I just take an activated charcoal capsule (can get from any health food store cheap. I go to GNC), and either sneak it in her food (she's very greedy and will eat almost anything put in her food), or I will just put it in a glob of oatmeal (I keep some in the fridge in a plastic container and have found that plain, cold oatmeal the perfect consistency for giving vitamins or meds, without the extra calories or salt that are in cheese) or just put in at the back of her tongue and gently rub her throat which forces her to swallow. Believe me, it works and it is harmless and natural, no side effects at all. Use it for yourself as well after that lovely Mexican dinner. :)

What it does is absorb all gas in the stomach quick fast.

Some other suggestions would be to feed your dog twice a day (two small meals) instead of one large meal so that the digestive system isn't overloaded AND putting the food dish at a higher level so that they don't have to bend down which causes gas and discomfort. You can buy the elevated dishes at any pet store. I believe this is essential for barrel-chested dog breeds like boxers. Also, I don't know if all boxers scarf down treats like mine, but I've found it helpful to not give her whole biscuits. I break it up to make her chew it better or I'll hold it in my hand and make her bite pieces off such as when I give her baby carrots or something. It MAKES her chew it.

Good luck :p

Yep, the yogurt worked for us too!

We just started doing it about a week and a half ago after someone here suggested it as part of a diet for dogs with tummy troubles and it works great! He still poots sometimes, but not nearly as much and it definately controls the stinkiness. I ran out of yogurt for a day and a half, and we were right back to the same old problems so now I keep lots of extra stocked up!

I have tried lots of remedies on our guys and the only one that works most of the time is activated charcaol.
