Chewy's Mom

Boxer Insane
As some of you know, I recently started working with Nor Cal Boxer Rescue. Well, this morning I drove down to Stockton (about 45 miles from here) to check out a white boxer boy in their Animal Control Shelter. He seems to be deaf, and we can't quite tell how old he is (maybe 3-4 ?), but he sure is a sweet boy. He's at the vet right now getting shots, check-up, etc. He's in pretty rough shape - very skinny and dirty with chipped teeth like he was trying to bite his way out of a cage or something. He had already been neutered, and was an owner surrender to the pound. He hated being in that cage, and loved riding in my car!

If we hadn't bailed him out, he would have been killed today. He was actually supposed to be put down yesterday, but they held him for us. Nobody there knew what his name is, so I named him Henry. I'll bring him home in an hour or two and give him a bath, and I hope he gets along well with Chewy and Stella. If he does, then we'll foster him. If not, I guess there are a couple other possible foster homes lined up for him.

Congratulations - you've earned "more than angel" status...I hope Henry finds a wonderful home!

Not an Angel

The young pup and the older dog lay on shaded sweet grass watching the reunions. Sometimes a man, sometimes a woman, sometimes a whole family would approach the Rainbow Bridge, be greeted by their loving pets and cross the bridge together. The young pup playfully nipped at the older one. "Look! Something wonderful is happening!" The older dog stood up and barked, "Quickly. Get over to the path."

"But that's not my owner," whined the pup, but he did as he was told. Thousands of pets surged forward as a figure in white walked on the path toward the bridge. After the glowing figure passed each animal, that animal bowed it's head in love and respect. The figure finally approached the bridge, and was met by a menagerie of joyous animals. Together, they all walked over the bridge and disappeared.
The young pup was still in awe. "Was that an angel?" he whispered.

"No, son." The older dog replied. "That was more than an angel. That was a person who worked rescue."

YAY!! Isn't springing a baby from the shelter a great feeling? I've done a couple and the exuberance you feel riding home is unquestionable!

Well, Henry is here! Intros went sort of ok, but Henry growls at Chewy and Stella a lot. If Chewy wants lovin from me, Henry gets jealous and chases him off. We have them separated right now. I gave him a bath, and he sure looks better. I bet he's never even had a bath from the way he reacted. Was kinda freaked out by the whole experience, but did pretty good. It's likely that he'll go to another foster home, but we'll give it a little more time to see how they do.
