Today, my co-worker was telling me that he went to the dog pound last night and got a puppy lab. He told me that he saw 4 boxers at the pound. He couldn't understand why there were so many boxers there. He thought that maybe they were high maintenance or caused problems. I couldn't talk fast enough telling him about boxers...espeically since I've had labs. And then, after I finished talking, I just felt bad all day because of those poor boxers. Why would anyone NOT want a boxer and could possible even take it to the pound? If they knew thier boxer, they would have realized it was like leaving a child at the pound. How sad.
I wanted to go rescue them, but I already have 2 boxers and a lab. We couldn't handle a 4th.

Anyway, just wanted to vent. I was just sad.

I know. I feel the same way. It is most likely because they think they are Pitts and don't want to take the risk of something happening. Poor babies:(.

Are there any boxer rescues in your area? If so, why don't you call them and let them know that there are FOUR boxers at your local shelter???

It is so sad to hear that. So many beautiful animals are neglected by their owners and end up at the pound. Hope they find loving homes soon.

If I lived nearby and didn't already have four, I would adopt them in a minute. I'd alert the rescues (if they haven't already been contacted) and see if they can't foster them out. Hope they eventually find their forever homes ~ Cathy

There is a rescue in a small town about twenty miles from us that found a Boxer and her eight puppies in a field almost a month ago. My neighbor called me so you know I had to go see them. The lady that runs the rescue is a lovely person but knows nothing about Boxers. Long story short...we sat down at the computer and worked up an information sheet. We also added a link to Boxerworld. Within three days all the puppies were spoken for and will be going home with their new families soon. One of the helpers spoke for the Mom.
Maybe you can do the same for these four babies. :)

RubyDoo,

What shelter has these boxers??? It's quite possible that the closest rescue to that shelter is on call to be notified of any boxers that come in. I know that is the case for the local shelter in my area. But on the off chance they are not, there are several rescues in Ohio. One of them may be able to help these poor babies.

You know, that's a really good idea about calling the rescue. I'll do that tomorrow!
My husband also told me that I also don't know anything about those boxers. I don't know their history, possible behavior problems, etc.
But still, I feel bad. I'll call the rescue tomorrow.
I work in the Piqua area, so I assume that the person I talked to actually went to the pound there.
