Boxer Pal
Before saying any more, let me say that our girl has been to the vet, as she regularly does. And it is because they couldn't pinpoint the problem and any solution that I'm asking for the help of whoever may have faced a similar situation.
Our girl is 18 months old. She wheighs about 32,5Kgs (roughly 40 pounds, I think). She has always been, or seemed healthy.
She has had her second heat period three months ago. We did not allow her to get pregnant, since the vet said she was still in a developing stage. She then developed a false pregnancy and had to be given Galastop to eliminate the milk she had produced.
A few days later, she started vomiting, not wanting to eat, crancky regarding our other dogs and isolating herself.
Took her to the vet, he thought it was something wrong with her stomach, prescribed Primpéran. As she remained the same on the following day, went back to the vet. He ended up doing blood tests and found out she was in renal failure. This was last Friday. She had to remain there for the weekend taking serum, to force the kidneys back to work.
Yesterday, she had new blood tests. The BUN and CREA levels were almost the same as on Friday. She has a BUN level of 102 and a CREA level of 8.4. He told us to bring her back home, change her diet to the same our older Dogue de Bordeaux has because of her kidney problems (Royal Canin Renal RF 16), but, although he didn't want to say it, he is not very optimistic about her chances.
As anyone experienced a similar problem?
I have been researching, and the most likely causes would be JRD (Juvenile Renal Disease) or CRF (Chronical Renal Failure), but she is lacking some of the symptoms and, as I've said, she has always been healthy and nothing pointed towards this. Her coat remains shinny, she is not loosing hair. Apart from the vomits, and the crancky mood, the only abnormal thing is that she shrivers a lot while sleeping or resting (but not always).
Please, can anyone help me, or know anything that might be useful?
Thanks in advance
