Abussed/Ignored boxer 101
Boxerchick12 is on the right path, TIME WITH HIM ONLY, while maintaining a same as always time with the other. Sounds like alot of your time will be spent with the dogs. Boxers naturally have a spirited, proud, and hyper attitude about them. BUT once that has been broken, it is hard to impossible to get it back. 1) Always be/show pride in him, walk tall when he is with you. 2) Nomatter what he does, never scold or raise your voice, let him stay near but stop communication with him. 3)Go through basics, sit, lay down, etc... until he masters them for you and others.4) Walking your boxer is very rewarding to him, but don't let him walk you! Placing the collar high on the neck is usually the trick to keep him from pulling. Holding the leash straight above the head, use treats/toys to hold his attn. (My exp. has shown that toys are more successful with an abuse case). 5) Let him be himself, enjoy play time, with training, like a game. If he looses control end game, go inside with him and sit for a while. 6) Remember he has not had what your other boxer was given from the start, and needs so desperately to get that love. Find what he likes and use it to his advantage, so he will be proud again.
7) You said he will have a happy loving home the rest of his life. Make sure you mean this in full, anything less is continueing the trend in which he was started. He would be better off with someone else. Sorry if this hurts in any way, I don't mean to offend, just being honestly sincere for Einstien. He deserves every advantage Stonewall has had to be happy & healthy. I gauranty you that if you dedicate yourself to Einstien he will return double or more. I truely hope you can take this challenge, starting over with all the emotion of a schoolgirls first love. 2 boxers = 200+% of your attention, and devotion. I am going down the same path as you are begining to take, so far, I am PROUD to have them both, Justice from birth, Lt. from 2.5 yrs old, ignored, starved, teased, and beaten. Every day a challenge, evry day a reward, I love them both, and after one year they are beginning to really share me, not acting out for jealous reasons, but acting as one. I say sit and both of them do so! Such a great feeling to give them a life!
Best wishes to all.
