My dog is 4 months old and when company comes over or one of us gets home from work, it takes him forever to calm down! I realize that this is normal behavior for a puppy, but here is my question:
Will this behavior ever stop on it's own or do I need to train him to be calm? I just can't imagine how he will ever learn to be totally calm even if I work with him on it. I know I can train him to not jump. When he's calm, he always sits on command, but if I try to sit him while he's excited it's a hopeless case...
I have some friends who have VERY mellow dogs and they tell me that they never had to work with them much to achieve this. Their dogs have just been mellow from the start. Are they pulling my leg or are ALL puppies this hyper?
Thanks in adavance.

I guess that's just normal puppy behavior, but for some reason I think boxers stay "puppies" longer than other dogs. This just makes them more loveable though. Keep us posted on your baby.
