Boxer Pal
Hello All,
My name is Donna. I live in Georgia (hence the howdy instead of hello) I have been a boxer fan since we encountered our proxy dog (the neighbor's boxer). She was so well behaved and so sweet, that when we decided to get a dog of our own, we went for a boxer. Mocha is a fawn/black mask female we bought from a breeder. She will be 3 in October. And my new addition is a rescue boxer Marcus - fawn male about 3.5 - 4 years old. I was foster mom for him first and I couldn't let him go when the time came!
Since we bought Mocha as a pup, we had the ability to socialize her during the formative stage and she is now the welcome wagon. Never met a dog, horse, human,... any living creature she does not love. She thinks she's a greyhound and is adamant that she can out run any other dog at the dog park (she is so dang funny to watch -esp when some other dog tries to pass her). But she also thinks she's a lab and once the energy is expended, you will find her in the pool with the labs.
Marcus is a sweetheart of a pooch and my rescue baby! He came to live with me almost a year ago. He seems to have been abused at some point - chained up in the back yard and unable to get away from bad situations it seems and then he was traumatized at the pound. He ended up on euthanasia row because he developed kennel cough and that is how he came to rescue me.
(who does rescue who?) He is extremely well behaved but had major fear issues - in fact he would become fear aggressive when he came to stay with me. I have never had a dog with fear issues so I had to do some research on how to rehabilitate him. And the walking/running started....and the building of the confidence...and teaching him to use his nose not his eyes as his primary sense... and the walking continued....and he has come so far! He is now a welcome wagon too. He isnt quite as accepting of non canine and human living things but he doesnt run away from parked cars, garbage cans, watch the sky for something falling on his head...and he is excited and confident when he meets other dogs (he was always great with people). He rolls onto his back to box (finally - that is his most recent accomplishment!).
Both pooches are docked and floppy! Will post pics soon!
