Okay, I'm not sure how to go about this or exactly how or if I should contact the AKC.
In Aug. we adopted our wonderful boy Maximus. After several months of him going back and forth to the vet, with several things possibly wrong with him we finally found out that he has a liver shunt. A liver shunt is somthing that he was born with. He had to have surgery and will be on some meds for the rest of his life. We also found out that he has a heart murmmur, which at this point is not a problem.
In early Nov. I emailed the breeder some pics and mentioned that he had been sick in a few of the pics, but nothing more. I expected at least a thanks for the pics, since they had ask us to keep in touch. But still to this day I have not heard anything back.
My question is how should I go about contacting the breeder about his condition? Should I contact the AKC (he and the litter are registered)? And if so how should I go about that? ( in writing, the AKC first) Also, do you know if the AKC will contact the other pups from that litter?
He did have a year health guar., but our main concern is making sure that the other people that adopted his brothers and sisters are aware of the condition, since it is hereditary and the others may have the same condition. I am assuming that since they never got back with us they already knew somethign was wrong. Also, I heard that they can't breed his mom or dad any more since there is a high possiblity that they could pass this on again.
Any help on how and who I should contact would be great.
Thanks!
