How often do you clip your dog's nails?

We have only clipped Bosco and Crash's nails a few times, they stay pretty short. We take them running everyday on concrete so I think that keeps them short.

Same here. Although I do have to clip his dewclaws (sp) every few weeks as his were never removed.

Isaac thinks it a game to trim his nails did you have trouble in the beginning using a dremel?

We just do as needed.. I usually know it is time to clip them when he starts leaving scratch marks on my legs and arms when we play hard.

After reading this, I will be purchasing a dremel but I am not going to purchase the doggie one since am also a craftsperson and am very good at using tools.

Even though this is not my thread, and I am a new boxer mommy, I want to thank all of you so much for the envaluable information that was provided. Now I am going to go check out other threads for more helpful tips!

One of the reasons I chose Mackensie rather than another of the pups in her litter was because she has white socks so I thought it would be easier to trim her nails... Here she is about to turn two years old, and she has never needed to have her nails trimmed! I'm not sure why they don't seem to grow. We don't have any concrete in the yard other than a small patio, and we don't go for walks on the road usually... I'm not complaining though, and I have the clippers ready should she ever need to have them trimmed!
