This is my first formal announcment that we are hoping to add to our Boxer family sometime next year :D both Alan and I feel ready for little puppy paws in our home (shhh don't tell Kailee though, it is a surprise ) At this point I am contacting breeders etc. and yes doing my homework first based on my education over the past two years here on BW ;) Truly, I have no idea what is considered a reasonable price. Buddy we purchased in 1993, not from a breeder, for 350.00 CAD and Kailee as you know is a rescue, so I am kind of out of the loop on reasonable pricing, and exactly how a breeder would base their price on. I am glad this thread got going.

We paid $550 for Britnee and $450 for Baylee (although we were surprised with Baylee since her family no longer wanted her they wanted to get their $ out of her-makes me sick) We got Brit from a breeder recommended to us by our vet. I am extremely happy with her and when I decide to get another I will definately go back to that breeder. We still e-mail each other and send pictures (she still has Brit's mom and sister). But I do agree that some breeders have gotten fat heads over their pups. :D No offense to those breeders around here guys:p

Congratulations Jean :D And good for you for starting to look now, in advance!!

I'm not sure what the going price in Canada is, but I'd imagine it would be comparable to prices in the US. Maybe a bit higher, because I don't think cardiologists are as accessible in many areas - there's the OVC but Ontario is a pretty big place ;)

Pricing has gone up since the thread started 2 years ago, but it will give you a good idea of the wide range of prices there are. It used to be that $600 was about average for a pet puppy from health tested areas in most of the US (except in some major city areas, where prices are higher) - now I'd say it's more like $800.

TY Julie and Boxer_21 (I think your name is Mandy? ) It has been a long emotional road to get to this point, especially for my husband. After losing Buddy it was so in my heart to find Kailee another furbrother, but my husband hesitated. I guess he truly needed to heal his heart. Of course, over the almost 2yrs I have dropped subtle hints in our conversations, and finally he feels he is ready, so that means WE are ready. It was important to me that both of us wanted a pup equally. So....our search begins, basically it is my task to find the breeder, once that is settled he will become involved. (LOL He is leaving this up to me? I could end up finding us a multi family :LOL: ) So, I may require some assistance at times. Julie are you available for a few e-mails if I need advice ?

Now back to the original topic of this thread ......
