Clia and I were in the local PetSmart a day or two ago and saw the most adorable Boxer baby! She was 10 weeks old and just adorable! Her Mom and Dad were understandably proud.

They fawned over Clia and asked lots of questions. They mentioned that they had paid $750 for their baby! I began to wonder what the price of Boxer babies was.

We adopted Clia when her first Dad couldn't keep her. He was moving to California and could not find a place that he could afford and that accepted pets. He didn't want to put one of those "To a good home only" adds in the paper and definately did not want her to go to rescue or the Humane Society.

My son wanted Clia, but couldn't take her, so he asked us if we would like a dog. We baby-sat Clia for one day, then for a weekend, and she had wormed her way into our hearts. She has been our baby for almost three years now and we love her more each day!

If you don't mind in sharing this information, I am just curious.

We paid 450 dollars for Scooter when he was 9 weeks old. Now if we go to the same breeder and want a puppy they range from 900 to 1200 dollars.

In March of 2002 we paid $450 for Lexiss and in Spetember we paid $500 for Tinee. I think thats a pretty average price range for Missouri but I have seen them go for as much as $1800

$750 is probably low-average to average for a well-bred puppy from health tested parents. It does vary by location, in some areas breeders are asking - and, I'm sure, getting - $1500-2400 for their *pet* pups (ridiculously expensive IMO, but some people will pay for a 'name').

I have seen a few advertisements in the local paper and the prices range from $700.00 to $900.00. One of them has our local tel. number, I don't know of any breeder in our area so you know what that means, although they say the puppies have had their shots and are registered.
When we got Sergeant 8 years ago we paid $550.00.

This reminds me...

I've wanted to ask about this for awhile (and please moderators let me know if this should be a new thread.) There is a VERY well-known breeder that lives close to NYC. I don't know if I'm allowed to say the name, but let's just say we all know this breeder;) Anyway, he charges $2,300 for a pet qualiy puppy and the prices go UP from there!!!! Isn't that way too much? I know he does all the health testing but he still must be making a mint on selling puppies, no? And another weird thing is that the price goes up depending on the amount of flash. Is that pretty common? I know flash can be part of what gives a dog show potential, but there's much more to it than that right? I called and asked about a flashy brindle female and he said dpending on how much flash it'd probably be around 2,500 to 2,700! Gooood loooord that's a lotta money!

Just wondering if this is pretty common in the show world.

We paid $300 with a $75 dollar rebate after she got spayed. She was only 300 cos she was white, the rest of the litter was a $500-$1200 pricerange, and only one was $500.
