how much does microchipping hurt?

I forgot to add above that when they did it, the lady said Rocky had skin like a rhino, but his coat was really soft. I'm guessing if he didn't notice and his skin is thick and it took more to push the needle through, then the pain is minimal.

You might have something there! Dozer's skin is thick like that and he never minded the shots or his chip. Diesel was the oposite he sqeals like a pig at the tiniest prick and his skin is very thin. Hmm. pretty interesting.

I don't have a clue how bad it hurts but I if you really want to know I've got an idea. Take the needle and stick yourself! :eek: Nah, I'm just kidding but I simply couldn't resist.

LOL I'm a tough girl... two rounds of infertility treatment and I gave myself *all* my own shots, including the IMs. So that would be no problem.

Well, Harry is all chipped up! Two seconds, a little blood and he didn't even flinch. He spat the nasty treat the vet tried to give him on the floor, though. She said, "How did you get so big if you're so picky?". LOL, I wonder the same thing myself. He is 88 lbs.

Boomer actually laid in my lap and almost fell asleep when the chipped him (lazy bones!!). We had it done at our local ASPCA and they waived the registration fee, so I think the total was $20-$25. I did follow up to make sure that had the info and that is was correct!

As a vet tech, I think I flinch more giving the shot for the chip more than the pets do getting it. The needle is very large, but also very sharp. If they are still during the injection it seems to go better. I did Jager's while she was under for her spay, but I'll probably do Kahlua the cat's while he's awake.
