Here in NZ we have veteran or senior dog at 7 years old.
Some specialty shows will also have Grand Veteran which is 10 plus years.
Thanks for answering that questions Debbie. Does anyone know if the same applies in the US?

I too would love to see a senior gallery. Magnum was our first boxer and he will turn six in January. His muzzle has slowing started to turn grey over the past two years. Every day I look at him, I see more grey. I love him with my heart and soul and I pray I have him for AT LEAST another six years. We got him as a puppy from a BYB in our uneducated days (BC Boxer World) and he's had his share of health problems. I pray I don't lose him at an early age because of this.

Just today my dear old Rose who is 10 plus, almost caught herself a little field mouse.
Course there really was no contest but it was hilarious to see the old gal in all her glory tearing up the garden trying to "get" the mouse!
I can just see it. It is so fun and endearing to watch our babies in their element. I'm sure Miss Rose was on cloud 9.

My Nikki is going to be 10 this April and I was just looking at her the other day in disbelief of how the years have flown by. And WOW! some of these accomplishments by seniors posted here, that's wonderful!

Though she hasn't been in a Grand Veteren show and she doen't carry any agility titles or catch any mice, she is still as playful as she was when she was one and just as adorable. I just tell Nikki she is a flashy fawn now, though I think she might be the first flashy fawn with a white nubbie! :p

My boxer boy Samson is 8 years old... he's getting those white hairs around the muzzle... he has slowed down a little bit... but there are still plently of times when he gets into one of those crazy puppy playful moods! :p

The older the get the better they get.....

I just love the oldies.....so worldly......... my Ginty will be 10 in February , she doesnt look like a old boxer....she is getting a little stiff on her legs....but boy does she know how to play with the grandchildren.....lovicon, and has about 10 minutes mad time....each day....

I think it would be great to moniter the progress of our more senior guys and gals.....a Senior gallery would be great....

Ginty says just keep trying Rose...... I nearly caught a thrush the other day.....but I just couldnt quite reach it in flight.....smashicon smashicon

Ruby turned 7 in September and she is going quite white in the face and down her back. She just gets more beautiful all the time. I love her white eyebrows, her face used to look like a racoon, she was so black around her eyes, but now she's white and she's just so beautiful. Angel is supposed to be 5 and since she's a whitey, we are wondering how we're going to tell when she's getting older!!!!

Baxter will be 10 in 9 days. The seniors are the best! My girls are both 6 but they have yet to reach the point of slowing down ;)

I love the grey muzzle and their beautiful faces. My Britnee was 8.5 years when she passed this May. Baylee will be 8 in January and she has grey eye brows now! I look back at pictures of them when they were younger it is hard to believe how quickly they go grey but still carry the spunk they had when they were puppies.

Great idea on a seniors gallery!

One special senior here!

We think Joe-Joe is about 10 now. He was picked up as a stray and went to a no-kill shelter last October and their vet put his age at 9 at that time. We celebrate his birthday in October since that is when he came into captivity.LOL

He is still full of life though, he wont concede an inch to our 1 1/2 year old. He hasn't very many teeth left, but he chews the younger guys chewies and bones and like to play chase with him in the yard. Also, he cracks me up because he turns into a two year old if he hears me mention that I am going somewhere, sees me pick up my purse or hears my car keys jingle.

He still follows me everywhere, just like my shadow. He has a little arthritis and a lot of hip dysplasia, so I feel really guilty when I watch him struggle to get up just to follow me from bed to the bathroom in the middle of the night on one of his bad days, like when we have a major weather change.
