does anyone else's dog have the head tremors more than one time a day? i've searched boxerworld and found a lot of information on the head tremor topic but i haven't really found anything that really says how many head tremor episodes their dogs have in a day.
Liam has been having head treamors for the last few months. usually it's one time a week and it usually stops as soon as we offer him some kind of food or treat. but the last week or so.....he's been having several episodes a day (between 3 and 5) and sometimes we have to offer him food several times to get the temors to stop. all my dogs come to work with me everyday so i'm able to see how often this happens. not that i like to see it........but at least i know. now i wonder if he has them during then night when we're all sleeping, too. should i have bloodwork done? should i not worry?
we're currently in the process of switching foods...to TBO Ocean Blue (grain free) to see if a grain free diet helps at all. i wonder if i should go to something entirely different. i just can't do RAW yet.

we are in constant contact with our vet since we have three dogs that each require some special attention each day. he knows about the head tremors and says not to worry about them to just watch him. but the vet DOESN'T know that the tremors have gotten a little worse. i have a call into him to call me later........i'll see what he says.
i just don't know if i should have bloodwork done to rule other things out.......or not. Liam has never had any bloodwork done. he's only 15 months old.......and thankfully never needed to have any done.

Good that you have a call in to the vet, since Liam's tremors have increased. It might take a while in switching foods, to see if there are any changes. It might be a good idea to get a full blood panel done, if at 15 months, he's never had one done. Sending lots of hopeful and healing vibes to your baby boy. Hope it's just the diet that needs tweaking! :)

just spoke with the vet. even before i could tell him about all my research on the head tremors.....the first thing he said was that anti-seizure meds for the head tremors isn't something that they prescribe. then i asked him about grain-free, raw diet, etc and he said some people are successful with that but there are some dogs that will continue to have the tremors. i told him about the research i've done and he was aware of the information from the dr glass paper. i am so glad to hear we are on the same page witha ll this.
so as long as the head tremors don't last a really long time........... he said i shouldn't worry about Liam. easier said than done :)
i have an appointment for Monday to have some bloodwork done on Liam though. i will feel better if we do some bloodwork to rule other things out.
anything else i should discuss with the vet when i see him on monday?

yes I 'm pretty sure dr glass is still there we refer to him where I work, my guy has the head tremors as well and the bloodwork shpuld come back normal. But always best to do the blodwork. Choppers tremors seems to come on when he is extremely tired which totally supports dr glass work. Someone on boxer world posted his work and its very interesting and makes total sense. He believes it could be from misfiring muscle fibers. You should read it, very interesting

oooh... sending ((((healing vibes)))) in your direction! Hope your baby's on the mend soon! Do the tremors occur when trying to turn in a particular direction?
If so, it could be a cerebellar problem.
