My husband and I are going to be fencing in 5 of our 20 acres of property around our house with a chainlink fence so that Sally has an ample amount of space. Sally is only 9 weeks old and our first boxer. I am curious as to how high the fence should be. I want to make sure that when she is full grown she isn't able to jump over the fence. I've always heard that boxers are jumpers is it true? If so what are their limitations?

I am sure you will get other input, but Manny in his younger years of course, could clear an 8 ft fence...I think 8 ft should be high enough.

Unless you want to put up a 10' fence don't count on it holding your boxer in. My neighbors boxer is always jumping his 6 foot fence and it's a privacy fence not a chain link. The holes in a chain link just let them jump/climb out all the better.

I've heard some boxer's can easily clear a 6' fence. Maybe you can just train your boxer not to jump the fence. Rocky has shown no interest about jumping our fence and some areas are as low as 4 1/2 feet.

I agree. Brandi's parents live where there is a 3 ft chain link fence in the front yard, but have never jumped the fence.

well gosh it seemed that fencing in the area was a better idea than not having one but now it seems that it might not matter! Luckily there are no neighbors or traffic where we live but I would still hate for her to get out.

4ft chain link has always kept my Boxers in...well except one,and she was an escape artist with unbelieveable talent.

We just put a fence up in our yard, and it is 10 ft, and we put laddace over it for privacy, so it is 12 ft! I read in one of my boxer books that a boxer can clear 6 ft easy! I have seen Kirby jump almost that, just when we are playing with him!!
