How do you prepare someone for this?

I did not know whether to post this here but I am new to boxerworld. My partner and I have a 1yo fawn girl, I have had dogs in the past before we met each other however he has not. I have said goodbye many times and although it is hard each and everytime you have to let a part of you go, it becomes that wee bit easier to manage your feelings.
My partner is so in love with our wee girl but its seems he is constantly scared that today could be the day he has to let his baby go. I honestly do not think he could deal with something like this on his own but I dont know how to prepare someone for the possibility bcos I am so used to having to just look after myself.

is your baby sick? She's only 1 yr. old so hopefully you won't have to say good bye for a really LONG time
Welcome to BW, you'll love it here

I agree, I don't think there is ANY reason to be worried unless your girl is sick. Enjoy her, love her, and just be happy you have her, no sense in worry!

We all fear the loss of our beloved boxer however, one can not focus on the bad. We love them with all our heart and soul and the feelings is returned ten thousand times over. That feeling is better to think about then the negative.:)

Reassure your parnter that he/she will have many happy years with your pup.

My DH and I stressed over all the health conditions before getting our boxer. We finally made up our mind to get one and just enjoy her for the time that we have and ensure that her life is the best it can be!! We had our girl for 6 years - too short - but NO regrets!! Our furkids are not forever here on earth, but they are in our hearts - love her today, tomorrow and always. As many have said, life is for living...:) Take care.

I too have been dealing with feelings about losing my best friend. Triton is 2 1/2, and every day I inspect him all over for lumps and bumps... I look deep in his eyes and ask him "How are you today?" Like he's gonna say, "Mom, I think I have cancer." I cry so hard when I read other member's babies battles with horrible diseases, and every day I think, when is that going to happen to us. We have 6 dogs, (only 1 is a Boxer) ages 5,4,3,2 1/2,2 and 1. The will all be geriatric at the same time...How will I be able to deal? My boxer T, and I spend all day together, and every day I say, "I love you". I tragicly lost my very special cat Sampson last Christmas, and I never got to say goodbye to him, or tell him I love him one last time. I make it a point to hug, kiss and say "I love you buddy" to all my animals, EVERYDAY.
I have a hard time "living in the moment" with triton, because everytime he gets a cough, or a sniffle, or diahrrea for no reason, I get so upset. How do you get over this and Carpe Diem?? (Seize The Day)

You dont get over it, just get through it. It reminds me of that Garth Brooks song;

How could I have known
That you'd ever say goodbye?
And now I'm glad I didn't know
The way it all would end
The way it all would go
Our lives are better left to chance
I could have missed the pain
But I'd of had to miss the dance

Well said.. I would not have changed a thing w/Brandy. We went through so much with her in the end but the seven years we had her I cheerish everyday every minute and miss her so much.
