How do I create an avator

This question has probably been asked 50 million times before, but how do I get one of these?

Also I have just uploaded some pics of my babies, I hope Ive dont it right

Your photos came through OK. What sweet babies they are, esp having all the health issues.

OK, First choose your photo for your avatar, a close up is best and reduce the size to a maximum of 64x64pixels. Then click on 'User CP' which is on the blue line about1/3 down the page, on the left. When you are in "User CP" select "Edit Avatar" on the left, then click on where it says 'choose custom avatar' then it has 2 choices, either a url or select one from your computer. Click browse to get your photo off your computer, pick the one you want, then click 'save changes' and you should be right.

ok I don't understand this....I have a regular picture of my pup which I cropped just her head, then I went to image size and changed it to 64 x62 pixels and it is still showing that it is 12k I had it down to an 8k file but it is saying that my 10k file exceeds the size limit. Not sure what I am doing wrong. I am working in photoshop.

are you sure it's saved as jpeg not bmp?

Yes it's a jpeg. and it says my file is only 7k but everytime I try to upload it says its like 12 k.

Since you're using photoshop... have you read the help section and the notes about the problems that sometimes creates? In particular, are you using the "save for web" feature? If not, you'll never get them uploaded

No I didn't read the photoshop help section and yes I did save them for web. I think I'll try using a different program and see if that helps. Thanks.
