We always had a dog when I was growing up in England. The first two were Fox Terriers, then a Golden Lab from the RSPCA. When I came to Canada and met and married Gunther, he had a son who wanted a dog, we went to the local pound and there was a golden Cocker Spaniel, Goldie was with us for 8 yers. After that, Gunther said he missed having a dog, that was his first experience, he never had one in Germany when he was a boy. We looked in the local paper and saw Boxer puppies for sale by a local breeder, so we went to see them and that was it. The first one we had we named Winston, he was a brindle, he was only with us for just over two years. He died at the vets, they were doing tests because he had started to cough up blood. They found out that he had a hole in the valve to his heart. The breeder told us that the mother to Winston had had some more puppies by a different father, that was an accident, Bing got to Tina while the breeder wasn't home and someone else was supposed to be looking after things. We went to see them when they were about 10 days old, and there was this one that was pushing all the others about, and even then he was mumbling (he never stopped!). We said that we would have him, so he came to us when he was about 7 or 8 weeks old and we named him Brenin which is Welsh for King, he was with us for 11 1/2 years. He was a fawn with a black mask. Now we have Sergeant, we got him from a different breeder, we got him when he was about 11 weeks old as we were going away at Christmas. He will be 6 on 22nd October . We named him Sergeant as he has some chevron stripes on his back, although he looks more of a fawn on his left side, he has hardly any brindle at all. He also has a black mask. We would never have another breed now although people say they have a face only a mother can love.

How I fell head over heels for Max. My children and I were really wanted a dog. A family down the street had a dog that was a about ready to have puppies so I asked if we could have one. THen about two weeks later after my husband had been gone all day, he said that he had a surpise for us. He brought in this big 4 month old boxer. i said get that ugly thing out of here. Well anyways I agreed to keep him on a trial bais.
My husband tried to call him Kilo not in his life time. So now Max is almost 1 year old.
He loves my kids and kniw he is one of my kids. I will never have another breed !!!!!!again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My sister adopted a dog, Roxie, from the local Humane Society. Roxie turned out to be the most people-oriented, intelligent, adorable, etc., dog any of us had every "met". She is a checked boxer (although my sister knew nothing about boxers when she rescued Roxie 11 years ago). Roxie looks a lot like Chris's Rebel. Anyway, I've always wanted another. When I did research the breed everything I discovered supported my experience - they are a wonderful breed.

Growing up in South Dakota There has never been an inabundance of dogs running around. I have grown up with most breeds of dogs, wether they were down the street, my own or just somebodys running around. Well I'll cut to the chase and get on with my story.
About 6 1/2 years ago, a gal and I had plans of sharing our lives together. She was about to graduate from Vet Tech school and we decided we wanted a pooch. We were thinking along the lines of a German Shepard or a breed which was very smart. Sheri was attending school at the Univ. of Minn. at that time and we decided she should ask some of the doc's there, so she did. One the doctors asked what we wanted in a dog, so she told him our thoughts, a smart protective breed. Well happens to turn out this guy was great freinds with another who had a pair of Boxers, brother and sister.
It,s very sad but this fellows' children were alergic to something in his house. Out goes the cat, didn't work. tried lots of possible things, but nothing worked. Had to get rid of the furbabies. So Sheri headed over to this guys house and scopes them out. Gets to go visit them every day, and of course, falls madly in love with them, calls me up and tells me I have to meet them, so I did that following weekend. Guess what, I just had to have them, What characters!!! It was a very sad goodbye for Blake(owner), They were his best freinds, our contract was about like an adoption agency contract.
The pups had gotten to see Blake a few times since, and they never forgot him. we lost contact somewhere with him.
I myself feel there is no other breed that can touch my heart and bring so much joy!
She may have left my side, but I know these guys never will!!
Sorry so long!

Ok my turn,

When my son was a year old and my daughter was 5 my husband (now ex-husband) and I went to meet with a prospective emloyer of his (he was a truck driver) and there was this big mean looking dog running around the yard (reverse brindle, docked & cropped female). Well my daughter had no fear of animals and was out the car in a flash, needless to say I was about in a panic. I personaly also have no fear of most dogs, but this looked like the perverbial "junkyard" dog! Well by the time I got out of the car and rushed to my daughters side she was being slobbered by the sweetest Boxer. Her owner came over and assured me that the dog loved children (which I could see by that time) and that she only looked mean. Well when we got home my daughter started pesting me and her Father to get her a Boxer of her own. I agreed that we did need a dog around for protection (my ex spent days away on the road). Well about a month later my husband walked in with this beutiful 8 month old male reverse brindle, docked & cropped. Alex was a wonderful dog and he ended up being my sons ride-on toy!

I still miss Alex, my ex got him in the divorce :(
But I have had 2 other boxers since then and they are the only breed I will ever have again (except of course for any stray that pulls my heartstrings!).

Greta my currant Boxer is an 11 year old rescue. When she leaves us (not soon I hope) I would like to get a show pup and try my hand at that. They are such a lovable, smart, devoted breed.

many years ago i was attacked by a scout dog from nam. ( lerps mission dog and was to be put down but wasn't) needless to say there was no dog in my future. i had always liked dogs but now i was terrified of them.when i married jb i always had cats. we are active duty army and it's hard having a pet at all when u move so much.jb has always loved dogs and comes from a family of pit bull lovers. he has always said he will get one. of course i couldn't wrap my mind around it! no way no how!
in january we moved to kansas and are going to be here for 3 years mandatory. it was hard finding a place to rent because of my cat but we lucked out and got a house instead of an apartment. shortly there after jb informed me he was getting a dog and that was that!(whatcha gonna do?) lol lol next thing i know he's calling all over to look at pit bulls. i was not ready!
i looked in the paper and there were boxers for sale! i thought oh those are manly dogs. better than a pit bull anyday! (jb's stepsister has a rescued female that jb loved) so i set up an appointment and off we went. she had 2 brindle females and then there was harley. black reverse brindle ... plain.... huge and in just a few minutes he was in our truck and our hearts! i do not know how i ever lived without this pup in paticular or the breed for that matter! i can't wait to have more!!!!

My mom had two boxers who died when I was too young to remember. She had photos of my older sisters playing with them, and she told me lots of stories of how my sisters could just do anything in the world to these dogs, and they would just sit perfectly still while they had their teeth counted or their paws pulled. I went through several years of renting houses and either wasn't allowed to have a pet, or could only have a very small dog or cat. For several years I had a wonderful yorkie who was not high strung as most yorkies are, and I've had my grey tabby since 1996, but I always wanted a boxer. About a year after I finally became a home owner, one of my customers at the bank where I work told me his boxer had a litter of very nice looking puppies. At the time I couldn't afford it, and told him no. He came to me later and told me that one of the flashy fawns who was being held by deposit for someone, was available due to that person not wanting the dog after all. I still couldn't afford it, but we worked out a payment plan, and I brought 15 week old Boomer home. My kids were so excited, and Boomer just fit right in. He has all the characteristics of the typical boxer, just as I had hoped. I am so glad I got him. A few weeks ago I got a beagle from the pound who has quickly become Boomer's best friend. I have found that beagles are nice dogs too.

I used to read the Boxer Board long before I got Draco. That was because I knew that we will get a Boxer soon.
My interest in Boxer developed when I was very little. I grew up with 6 Fox Terriers and one beautiful Boxer girl called Poppy. Poppy adored me and vice versa. And I always knew that when I grow up I will have a Boxer..and now I have a beautiful boy, Draco!!!

I was always a cat person. I was bitten by a GSD when I was about 7-8 years old and I didn't really like dogs since that time. Over the years I somehow started liking the boxer's looks expecially the brindle. I think it was because they reminded me of a cat. So for years I have thought that if I were to have a dog it I would love to have a boxer.
I didn't really seriously start looking at boxers until my hubby brought home a chihuahua (his favorite dog). Then I started thinking if he could have a chihuahua then I could have a boxer. For years I said I wouldn't own a chihuahua and he said the same about boxers.
A friend of mine who did dog grooming tried to tell me that I should look into other breeds - she didn't like boxers (because she knew nothing about them really, she'd never known a boxer even!) So I looked into other breeds - but nothing really appealed to me except the boxer. The more I learned about boxers the more I had to have one, and little by little I became totally obsessed with getting a boxer. Hubby still said NO WAY! But I know that if I am persistant enough he always gives in - but it took a while. I asked people that I saw walking boxers - where did they get them, asked the vet, anyone who I thought might know of a good breeder. We got our chihuahua from a pet store so I knew I wanted to get my boxer from a good breeder.
My hubby really never got overly attached to Keisha, she is my baby. I had never loved an animal as much as I do her.
When we decided to breed her I said "we're not keeping any of the pups!" I didn't want another quite yet. Well my daughter picked Travis when he was about 5 min. old, saying "thats our dog". My daughter & I came home from the breeders after the whelping and I told hubby of the dog she had picked and he said "well I think that we should keep it - what if Keisha doesn't have anymore pups" What could I say?!
Now Travis has got a really big spot in daddy's heart (as well as the rest of us)
