Update

I just heard from Wag'n'Train and got prices for a rental it is as follows:
$45/hour
a $100 cleaning deposit is required
$40 is retained for cleaing
they require event insurance of no less than 2 million dollars and waivers signed

they are available for bookings friday evenings, saturday afternoons and sunday evenings.

I would think Saturday afternoon would be great, it allows ample travel time and $45/hour isnt bad at all even if we rent for 4 hours it is just under $200 for the rental plus the insurance and the cleaning fee. Which I could easily get covered by doing sponsorship (I am great at this kind of thing!)
I emailed boxer rescue to enquire if they would be interested in having an event and they have yet to respond.

I think this would be a great opportunity to network and meet each other and help out a great cause. Keep up the ideas and imput!

more great news

Ok the bad news first:
I am having some issues with insurance but I am working on it. I have made lots of contacts and am following up on quite a few leads. So that is the only bad news as of yet.

Here's the good news: Boxer Rescue is VERY interested in working with me on this event, they may allow some corporate sponsorship (which I have done tonnes of in the past) and we are discussing ways to raise money, we are thinking of doing a raffle (i.e buy tickets and we would raffle off prizes) or a silent auction (I would be trying to get mainly pet stores to donate items for auction or services, and a few things for mommies and daddies too) I want to make this available for everyone, even those traveling from the states that is why I am leaning towards the silent auction that way you could bid on things you could use and take home like toys or accessories for pets, or items for yourselves as opposed to perhaps more local services or things that would be limited to Ontario.


Oh the other bad news no booze, the cost of insurance would skyrocket. Also the facility also does not allow children (skinkids to be exact!) due to the protective nature of dogs, they do not allow this at all at their facility and I do agree that it is probably best to make this a mommy, daddy and furbaby event. The insurance company originally said they wanted the dogs to all be muzzled, I told them no way that would happen on my clock, so they are working on it ha! a muzzled boxer! Some people I tell you!

Also if people could give me a rough idea of numbers (number of dogs, number of people) so I have a rough idea of how many people I need to plan for.

I know we have not decided on a date yet either, but I want to get all the details out of the way and then we can start to juggle dates around. I hope no one minds but I dont want anyone planning to drive here and then things fall apart. Lets get our boxers lined up first

keep up the idea and suggestions, Lord knows I could use them.
If anyone has any links or expertise on insurance (that would help me greatly!) also is anyone who is fairly local to me interested in helping to organize this event? It may be easier to have a team (our own Ontario Boxer Booster Board)

CTV is a great idea, I know CKCO will be there with bells on if asked. When I hear more from Boxer Rescue I will let everyone know.

My husband and I would be there with our girl Jasmine, but depending on the date we might have a foster with us too. We are still in the process of getting accepted, but they said they would place one with us asap.

So count on two adults and one boxer (possibly 2 boxers). Is there any help you need fron this side of the border?? Let me know, I have a ton of free time!!!!
