Those are some good ideas, I will see what I can do. I know that I probally won't be able to get the guys pictures, they wouldn't even give us there addresses. I guess that is because they don't want us to do anything stupid.

If the pawn shop wouldn't give you their info, maybe they would give it to the police. Even if you just gave their names to a PI, I'm sure he could round up their pictures for you - probably their addresses too. But try to get the help of the police first.

If they have pawned your property, the police CAN get it back for you. Legally, the pawn shop must give up stolen merchandise.

I'm sure that the police will also have access to the Driver's License info. also. The pawn shop can not refuse to give that info.

Good luck!!

The pawn shop didn't get in trouble for buying stolen merchandise, we actually had to go buy back our own things. Only one item we had the serial number for. That item we didn't have to pay for. There is some kind of agreement between the police and the pawn shops. They cooperate with the police the police makes sure that they don't get in trouble or loose money. Crazy, huh. They would only give us the county the guys are from. They have contacted the police in that county and they are looking for them. It just seems like sometimes the law seems to work better for the criminals then upstanding citizens. I will make sure to keep everyone posted.

I was in a similiar situation, where someone stole my boxer from my front lawn.

I would recommend, if you havnen't already to:

do a search for vet, vet clinics, and vet er hospital withing a 10 mile radius of where you think your puppy might be and send out flyers to them.

You might want to tell a fib and say that your puppy needs to be on medication; this may encourage who ever took her to give her up so they wouldn't bother with vet bills.

I know what your going thru just keep your hopes high and keep positive.

Good luck

I'm sorry you lost your puppy. Was she in a crate inside the house or a kennel outside?

I've read this whole thread, but am having trouble following this.

We do know who the guys are that did this. My husband called around to the local pawn shops and found our stuff right away. The pawn shop had copies of there ID's and they gave Warsaw, In addresses that they worked at. When we saw the pictures of the guys, we hadn't ever seen them before.

So you have or have not seen pictures of these guys? You know them or do not know them?

Seems to me there is more to this story. If the pawn shop had copies of ID's, why is this not resolved?

Was your pup spayed? I heard of one guy who had his dog stolen and was sure it was to use for breeding. Unfortunately, with boxers gaining popularity, that could become more common.

Best of luck.

 This is horrible! I can't believe they would steal your baby from you!

You are in my thoughts and I'm hoping she is returned safe and sound very soon.

Also, its a good idea to say she's on medication for a serious medical condition. They may return her for fear of paying vet bills or having a sick/vicious/aggressive dog on their hands. They wouldn't know why she was on 'medication'...maybe that would help.

I guess I'll start paying less attention to the lost dog signs and ads that say the dog is on medication. nonoicon Seems every lost dog these days needs medication.
Hopefully my dog never gets lost because he REALLY IS on medication!!

Of course I'd want to get my dog back at all costs, but being caught in a lie sure diminishes one's credibility.

I don't know about you but I'd rather get my dog back then be "credible" to the jerks that stole him!

I know professional trainers that inscribe this on tags because it gives the dogs a higher chance of being returned. Plus, never have the dog's name on the tag, just the phone number and/or address. If the dognapper knows the dogs name it makes it easier to bond with the dog.

My dogs are tatooed, microchipped and have tags. You can bet I would do whatever it takes to keep them safe and ensure they would get returned. Lying to some scumbag dognapper is the least of my worries.

Yes, my baby was stolen out of her crate inside the house and we did see pictures of the guys, but neither my husband or me have ever seen these people before. She had a tag with just a phone number, but I was on the local news and said her name. When the tip came in about them returning to Kentucky, the lady on the phone said that they were calling her Lily. It does make me sad to think that they are bonding with her. She wasn't microchiped yet. And she wasn't fixed yet either. I was supposed to have her spayed on 12/5/02.

It has been a month now and my Lily is still not home. I still miss her everyday. I have been in touch with the sheriff's department in Kentucky about her and the animal shelter. I feel like I have done everything I know how to do. I just hate that she won't be there for her first christmas with us. I know that I will miss her so much then. I still have been visting the local animal shelter every three days to see if she is there. The other day a female boxer was in there, that looked a lot like my Lily, I had to look twice just to make sure. That little girl was so cute and she did the boxer wiggle, which made me smile, but it also made me miss Lily even more. I burst into tears just the other night because I just felt like I was beginning to forget her. Not her face, but her little personality and everything she did. I hope that someday she will find her way back to me. Thanks for all the support you all have gave, it has been a big help with my healing.
