Lola's mum

Boxer Insane
Mum has been taken into hospital (in a lot of pain and they don't know why) so the dogs are home alone. Don't know if you remember but I was worried about this a few weeks ago when she went away for the week but various members of my family were ill so they were never left after all my worrying.

It was the first day today, I left for work at 8.30 (later than usual but hey ;)) and my friend came over at 11.30 to let them out. I'd left kitchen roll out just in case Casper had an accident but she said he hadn't :) I got home just after 3pm and the floor was still nice & dry (beaming now)

Just thought I'd share

Mum has osteoporosis and her bones at the base of her spine are crumbling causing obviously lots of pain and discomfort. She is going for a scan probably tomorrow to find out the extent of the damage. So much for the Dr telling her to move about more as her muscles had seized up after her bout of flu
The dogs miss her terribly and got so excited sniffing me when I came back from visiting her this evening :(
Thanks for asking how she was.

Hello Tracey, have you considered a massage for your mum? With the proper therapist(experienced and lots of knowledge) they can do some gentle movements to help those muscles relax. When dealing with an osteo patient, you have to be aware of their condition and to go to the patient's comfort level. Also, you can do some things to help her out, like gently rubbing lotion on her, arms, legs, back and chest, try to rub towards the heart(not always possible). No need to try to use pressure, just gentle strokes, relaxation combined with loving touch can be very powerful. Too, it's usually best to get the doctor's okay for massage. I hope your mum gets better, sending you healing energy, also good job puppies!!

Erin I wouldn't dare touch her back with her bones crumbling, could make things 10 x worse. She can't even move without pain.
She's in the right place now at least (hospital) and is on morphine and something else for the pain. I'm so worried though and we all miss her, the dogs really are moping around.
