Home alone

[Lola's mum]

Tomorrow my babies are going to be all alone while we're at work.
They usually have mum here but as some of you know she's away visiting rellys (relatives) and won't be home until Wednesday. My son who was here with them last week starts his new job tomorrow and leaves the same time as me in the morning and Dh is long gone by the time we get up. I've even told my daughter she can have the day off as she has a sore throat but she loves school and is like 'oh I'm ok mum, I've got my lockets' (sore throat sweets) My son (who hated school) is calling her a nutter, he'd have bitten my hand off for a day off. I've injured my back and it's twinging slightly and I've even toyed with the idea of calling in sick but I love my job and to be honest it's not bad enough for a day off. What a turmoil I'm in. Probably making a mountain out of a mole hill I know.

I am feeling very sad and worried as to how they'll be :( My neighbour is coming over at 12.30pm when she finishes work to let them out and have a play but I still feel sad. This happened last year and Lola was fine with our other dog but Zeb has never been left before for such a long time and I know I'll have a horrible day at work. I leave the house at 8am and won't be home till after 3pm.
I just need some reassurance they'll be ok, I'm going to leave their toy box in the kitchen with them and take off their collars in case they start playing rough. Any other advice will be greatly appreciated.

I remember the first time I let Samson alone by himself. He was okay with it, and Im sure Lola and Zeb will be fine, too. Just remember that you will be back home and its not like your going to abandon them.

Think of all the people in the world who leave their dogs at home alone all day and think nothing of it. Your babies are so lucky to have a Mama like you!

I felt the same way you do when I went back to work.:( my family said they would pitch in but of course that did not happen. samson and mattie are alone on mondays through wednesdays from 7 am to 2 pm. I know now that they are fine everything is still where it belongs when I get home appicon I find that samson just sits by the window waiting for me to come home.

Try not to worry!

Maybe while your neighbor is there at noon you could ask her to call you with an update. That might make you feel a little better. I am sure they will be ok!

Sounds like you have a good plan in place. Don't worry, your babies will be fine. I agree with "mybubbieroo", have your neighbor give you a ring to give you an update. Also, just think of all the Kidney beans you'll get when you come home. I bet 10 times the normal amount. :D

The first time i left tazz alone (only for a couple of hours), he pooped all over the house.

This kid will have to lean to stay home alone for a while.

Tazz has a big problem with being left alone even for a couple of minutes and he starts barking his head off.

They'll be fine! It's only the good owners who care. It sounds as if you have covered all of of your bases pretty darned well. I like to think of it as how I felt when kids went away to school. I always hated the first day, very un-mom like I know. But they did fine, and when I relaxed so did they.

I really like the idea of having your friend call, that was a great suggestion.

Your such a good mom. My babies are not left alone for long periods of time. When I leave they are crated. The longest they have been left at home is probably 4 hours. So I couldn't imagine going back to work. i think you have though about everything. Even taking off they're collars!!! Good luck and don't worry too much. At least they have eachother to keep company.

Zeb has Lola and they will have a blast my 2 are left alone one or two days a week they always have all the toys out blanket off their couch no damage they have each other.
