I came home from work to find lil Zoe absolutely covered in hives Friday. Knowing she could have Benadryl I couldn't remember how much so I had to call the vet @ 1030 pm. So she got 50 mg of Benadryl which didn't help so at 3 am she got 50 mg more. When I work up at 630 she still had them. I gave her a bath & another 50 mg at the vets suggestion. Then I had my dad watch her while I was working Sat. night. At 615 he called & said they were completely gone I didn't believe him so I made him bring her to me at work;) and they were gone!!! It's been 2 days with no hives but I still don't know what caused them:confused: It's a good thing because I was beginning to wonder if she developed an allergy to Harley ;)
Being the caring mommy I am , of course I had to take pictures so I'm going to post them in my gallery.

I am betting her loving brother put itching powder on her and she had a sever reaction. Yeah, that's the ticket!

Might have been a spider bite???. My guys think the little spiders that run around were put there for them to play with. A little hard on the spiders.

We had the same thing happen to Hammer and we had no visible reason for it anyway. We're assuming it was creepy crawly of some kind!

Glad Zoe is all better!

When Kiki was just 5 months old she got into something and I rushed her to the vet and she had rubbed up against something. He gave her a shot and I gave benedryl and she was fine. I know it scared the dickens out of me because I couldn't figure out what had happend to her. They loooked like welts.
Glad things are well.

Tyra had hives all over last fall and I never did figure out what caused them. Last week the hives reappeared and left within 24 hours. I think it is something environmental. My theory is tree pollen.

Jagger had this too...and we gave the Benadryl and I swear to God that made the hives worse. First time we took him in to emergency vet hosp and they said spider bite or something similar....they gave him a cortisone shot and benadryl and that cleared it up in about 12 hours. Second time it happened I just gave him the Benadryl and they only got worse. After a day and a night of that I hosed him off in shower...no shampoo or anything - and bought him a brand new crate pad that has NEVER seen laundry detergent. I just wash it in hot water and a little bit of vinegar and I haven't seen the hives back yet.
Good luck..I know its really scary.

Has she had any vaccinations recently, ours got hives a couple time after certain shots. If not it probably is a spider bite or some kind of insect.
So far they haven't had any problems, I hope they all out grew it.

My brother let them outside to play & she must have gotten into something out there. Although at 20 degrees I don't know what:rolleyes: After she had 100 mg & some of the hives had gone down they were out diggin in the sow because one of their balls was buried & when she came in more hives popped up. so I figured it was something outside.

Has she had any vaccinations recently
Nope, no recent vaccinations either. That was the first thing the vet asked too.

HIVES

My Annie gets them all the time and I have been noticing that when I am away from her(at work) longer than normal she gets them...I am beginning to think that she breaks out with these because she has a bit of seperation anxiety.......
