I will think about that. My current vet has impossible hours, he's only open one "late night" a week and that is until 6:30. He's also only in on one Saturday a month (from 9-12), but the office is open the other ones if you need something simple like more heartworm pills, a weight check, etc... I'll look them up. I understand that they wanted to make sure we could pay them, but I thought requiring a $500 deposit before we can leave was a little much. We only go to my current vet because that's where my in-laws and Jakes mom go.

They are on Kent Road.Take new patients all the time. Another thing that is nice,if you have any questions,doesn't matter how silly you may think,they always have the time to talk to you. The drs. always return calls,all the techs are super nice,Julie out there is Dozer's gf
The first time I walked in I felt comfortable with them,and most importantly,all of my furkids are comfortable there. They took care of Pooh's pups,we had 7 babies,tails and dews done and first shots,only ran me $150.00. But the payment plan is what sold me,I'm there alot with Dozer so it's a lifesaver.We just had Pooh there a couple of weeks ago,she had a teeth clean and an extraction.Dropped her off at 7:30am she was home by 5:30 and the vet himself called for the next couple of days to see how she was doing. She loves going there. Even goofy Dozer,as much as he's had to go lately,loves going.
How late do you work? Maybe we could meet up out there.I'd love to introduce you to everyone.

I'm really sorry to hear about your dog. Hope everything goes well. How do you know someone hit him and took off. If your dog was hiding he ran when he got hit and the person couldn't find your dog and could do nothing. They may just feel horrible. Imagine if you were in their shoes. I know you'd say you'd do everything you could to find the dog, etc, but you don't know until your in that situation. How did your dog get out anyway?
I guess you're right about maybe they looked for him, but he was about 50 feet off of Main Street in a parking lot, less than 1 block from my house. I assumed since he was so close to the street that the person didn't even look for him.
We think how he got loose was this: everyone in the house was busy cooking dinner/straightening the house. He asked to go potty and my youngest skin kid (10 yrs) put him on the lead because they didn't have time to actually walk him. Our back yard is not fenced, we just don't have the $ for that right now, plus we are looking for a better neighborhood. We think she clipped the lead to the small ring with his rabies & county tag (they are now missing) instead of the big ring on the collar, and he pulled and it snapped. Not exactly sure, but this is our best guess. I was on my way home from work.
