Hello! I am new to this board, and I don't have a boxer yet. I really want one but am waiting for the right time. I'm a teacher, so I'm thinking closer to summer. Question - Where do your boxers stay while you're at work? I crated my Pug and he did really well, and then I moved him behind a baby gate in the kitchen, and eventually he had free reign of the house. Do you think this would work with a boxer or would he jump the gate? What do you guys do?

Hello, I have a six month old boxer she does not jump the gate, i have put a gate up in between the kithen and lounge and she stays in the kitchen while i am at work, i only work part time so its not so bad for her.

My pup is 12 weeks old now. I brought him home at six weeks and kept him in a crate while I was gone. It took one incident of him getting his bottom jaw stuckin in the cross pattern of the wires for me not to put him in there anymore. Good thing I was home when he got his jaw stuck. I was trying to mop the floors and he kept attacking the mop, that's why I put him in there. Since then, I put him behind a baby gate in my hallway. It didn't take long for him to learn how to jump the gate. Then, I had to put two baby gates, one on top of the other. Well, you guessed it, he climbed both. So, I attempted to let him run the house while I'm gone. So far, not too bad. He does have a few accidents on the floor (thank god I have hard wood floors). Only thing is, I have to pick up the kitchen garbage can before he is left alone. Eventually, when he gets older and the temeratures get warmer, he'll graduate to a nice big fenced in yard while I'm at work and then inside while I'm home.

We keep our 9mo. old Boxer in her crate while we are at work and at night.
I have been wondering if the Boxer breed will eventually be able to be trusted free reign of the house when she gets older.Our Boston Terrier does fine. Good Luck finding a perfect Boxer friend.

Welcome!

Our boxer puppy (15 weeks old) is very content to stay in her crate at night
and when we are out. She understands that its her room, and she goes in
by herself in the evenings and during the day when she wants a nap. I think it must be important to her for the crate to be in a good location. It's between our kitchen and our family room, and pretty much in the center of the traffic pattern for the whole house. She's very curious and wants to keep an eye on everything, and I don't think she would be comfortable or able to relax if she were out of site in the laundry room, for example. She would have to keep getting up to check on us! Good luck!

Welcome to BW...I'm so impressed that you are researching and waiting for the right time to bring a boxer into your live - it will never be the same once you do :) (in a wonderful way that is). Do lots of searching here and you will find all your questions will be answered. Take care and keep us posted on your furbabies arrival.
