My family just adopted our first boxer from a resuce organization. We named him Tucker. His previous owner tried to starve him to death, then threatened to shoot him when that didn't work fast enough! Thankfully, one of the man's family members called the sheriff's office and they confiscated the dog. He is so sweet and so smart! You would never guess that he had been mistreated. The only health issue we're having to deal with is calcium crystals in his urine. Other than that, he's healthy and active. I found this site while researching dog food brands to help control his condition (yep, read the HSD C/D label and flipped-out!). It's nice to have this resource for questions concerning this particular breed, since we are first-time boxer owners. Most of our other pets are reptiles.

Welcome to BW! I too have a rescued boxer. We had some digestive health issues right from the start but once the vet identified the problem and got his meds figured out he is by and large a great dog. They are a wonderful but complex breed that we can learn a lot from and about.
